When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

Why is it on we the people? I’ll bet if wages were raised so the income gap wasn’t so vast, if snap was paid for, and billionaires and corps taxed responsibly were the pissed of people would have more to spend. If we’re not spending, they’re not earning. Stop being fooled.

pbs.orgU.S. retail sales unexpectedly post largest drop in more than a yearThe drop in spending raised concern among some economists about the resiliency of consumers who have powered the economy forward despite nagging inflation and soaring gasoline prices.

Shout it loud and clear. Release the E files! Even not for victims & justice, then for Katie Phang’s income stream! Not dissing Katie’s lawsuit-obviously she’s fighting the good fight, I’m happy for its product, regardless& she brilliantly uses the law. Does it always have to be about $$ with us?

A federal judge has just ordered DOJ to turnover five categories of items from the Epstein Files that it previously failed to disclose by July 2 in a lawsuit brought by Katie Phang. Read the details here: joycevance.substack.com/p/finally-a-...

Russell Vought is an evil man. This plan is nothing short of a personal take-over of federal grant making. It will affect ALL of us. Political commissars will now be in charge of all agencies, reporting to him. But we are not powerless. See what you can do below. 1/ www.thenation.com/article/poli...

thenation.comRussell Vought’s Latest Plan to Gut the Government Should Terrify YouA proposed new rule changing the way the federal government hands out money could be absolutely devastating for every single person in this country.

These monsters are inhumane to the core. My rant is in the comments

ProPublica@propublica.org

NEW: A rule change pushed by White House officials would slash benefits or end support for as many as 400,000 Supplemental Security Income recipients with Down syndrome, dementia and other disabilities whose parents or relatives receive SNAP benefits.

Cesar Sayoc, a Trump super fan & obsessive Fox viewer, sent pipe bombs in 2018 to Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, & many other top Dems. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. In the wake of the attacks, Trump said about his rhetoric: "Tone down, no. Could tone up."

Agree. And come on- sure we can all get stoned but what are your job/career prospects, young man?

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

Marijuana should never have been a Schedule I narcotic in the first place. This timing, though: Trump is trying to claw back support he’s lost with young voters, especially young men.

Let’s get the vacuum out. No more sweeping under the rug!

Adam Kinzinger@adamkinzinger.substack.com

Hungary just elected a new PM who wasted zero time — he shut down state propaganda, called out the corrupt officials by name, and started the reckoning on day one. It made me want to write down exactly what that should look like here. So I did. open.substack.com/pub/adamkinz...

I just witnessed Jamil Jaffar on MSNOW explicitly misrepresent the position of people who are anti Israeli politics as being pro Hamas and implicitly accused us of being antisemetic. ENOUGH of that BS. There was another on who adeptly refuted that position without anger, which I could not have done.

Marco Rubio declared that under the Constitution being born in the USA does not make you a citizen unless your parents are citizens. Marco Rubio's parents were Cuban immigrants who were NOT citizens at the time of his birth. Do you think Marco will now self-deport?

The Republican Party owns this war They weren't 'lied to' or 'misled', they gleefully ushered this in Every single sitting Republican Senator, Representative, Cabinet Official, appointees... and all Republican candidates running for office... It's precisely the same for the Epstein Files

Just going to throw this out there, Jaime Raskin, FYI - our tent is not big enough to invite everyone in.

Redemption without contrition. Reconciliation without truth. It's what America has always done with the right-wing going back to the Civil War...more recently the War on Terror...and now with triple Trumpers who will magically "see the light" and jump off the ship like rats.

The administration is trying to aggressively escalate its coercive power over the American people.

alec karakatsanis@equalityalec.bsky.social

Today’s Executive Order creating a *nationwide* military “quick reaction force” and setting up an online portal to permit random fascist vigilantes to join soldiers is one of the scariest things I’ve seen in U.S. politics in my adult life. Why is it not getting more attention?

But ordinary people don't deserve food and healthcare.

"Zaslav will receive $30 million in "Golden Parachute' compensation along with $537 million in equity for a total of $567 million in a transaction-associated pay." half a billion dollars for being terrible at your job

The debate is over. The people have voted. Will the Dems listen? So far, a week after the elections, the answer is no.

Mother Jones@motherjones.com

Ever since the reasonable woman lost to an autocrat wannabe, the Democrats have been going through another painful round of debate: Should the party move to the center or adopt a more progressive stance? But with the election results last week, the debate is over. Or, at least, it should be.

All of this. For the prosperity to trickle down we need to fix the hole at the top

Just Jack@just-jack-1.bsky.social

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance. The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income. They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive. Wanna fix fraud and abuse? Fix that.

Why don’t we have a safeguard in the constitution against a rogue and paid for SC? Circuit Judges should have something akin to the 25th amendment. The SCJ’s have way too much power.

The short text message, despite sounding like it was written by a 60 year old, manages to plug every hole in the investigation in the most convenient and expeditious manner, all meant to be a live exchange in the panicked aftermath of an assassination. It's not conspiratorial to say it looks fake.

Ask if this. Thank you for your clarity

There are violent extremists on the left but they are not in charge of the party. You can find them on social media, not in the halls of power. The violent extremists on the right are in congress, on courts, and sitting in the Oval Office.
