I just donated to help support @ike-lab.com at Wichita State University and you can too! Easy access to historical and current voting data in Kansas is very important to the health of our Democracy. IKE lab provides a very helpful service to Kansans. #Kansas #Democracy give.wichita.edu/ike-lab

Advance voting in Kansas begins today! We’ve got our first report of the number of mail-in ballots requested so far, and a few hundred have already been returned. Our first in-person voting report (to the limited extent counties start today) will be tomorrow. #ksleg

Good morning! We've added a new report page to our site today which makes comparisons between the current state of advance voting in Kansas with the equivalent state in 2024 and 2022. We also do more breakdowns than in our old reports. Check it out! ike-lab.com/evcompare_26...

All 105 counties now have sample ballots posted in the state's VoterView system! 🎉 We don't post them on the site, but we keep an archive of sample ballots for each precinct for each election to help us crosscheck things like candidate lists.

Coming today: breakdowns of the statewide races from the August primary, including the amendment vote! #ksleg

Happy Election Day! Early in-person voting is done, and the numbers from the SOS this morning should be nearly final (some counties are stragglers on reporting). We had 162k, which is well above Aug 24 (63k), but below the historically high Aug 22 (215k). ike-lab.com/dailyev_2608... #ksleg

We've posted data on the Friday advance voting report for Kansas. Yesterday, Rs passed Ds in ballots cast, which is late compared to recent primaries. Of those who voted in 2024, 15.6% of Ds have voted, compared to 8.7% of Republicans and 4.9% of unaffiliateds. #ksleg ike-lab.com/dailyev_2608...

There are big primaries for both parties, including for an open governor's seat. Maybe even bigger is a constitutional amendment to move the state supreme court from a merit/retention system to nonpartisan elections - Republicans are looking to push the court more conservative with the change.

It is still early, but we can compare first reports to the past. There are slightly more requested ballots than the 2024 primary, but less than 60% of 2022. 2022 had an anti-abortion amendment (which failed), and this year's amendment would likely have the same effect if it passed. #ksleg

We're late to posting this, but on June 9th, Morton County held a special election to recall their Sheriff, Thad Earls, and the measure passed 317-211. #ksleg

Good morning! Today is the first special election of the year in Kansas, a citizen-initiated measure in the city of Salina to repeal a ban on pit bulls. This is an all-mail election, so ballots are due by noon, and we'll likely have results in the afternoon. #ksleg

Unofficial results for our last special election from yesterday are from USD 404 (Riverton), which passed its bond question. #ksleg

A roundup of the unofficial election night results from Kansas's special election day! Still missing results from USD 404, although local news is reporting that the bond measure passed. #ksleg

Final election night results in for Hutchinson’s sales tax race. It looks like a tight win for yes. #ksleg

We’ve got some all-mail elections today, where ballots were due by noon and counting could begin immediately after. All three of Johnson County’s measures (Olathe and De Soto Schools and the city of Edgerton) look to have passed based on unofficial results. #ksleg

Tomorrow is special election day in Kansas! We've got 20 school bond measures and 6 municipal sales tax measures on ballots around the state, including in the city of Wichita and for Olathe Public Schools. Full text for all the measures is up on our site: ike-lab.com/complete_ele... #ksleg

We have the complete guide to special election day in Kansas, which falls on March 3rd this year! 15 school districts will be holding bond elections and 6 cities will be holding sales tax elections. USD and city sizes, along with the amounts up for vote, are included. #ksleg

We do have one special election so far this year that isn't falling on March 3 (votes not relating to sales taxes and bonds are not required to be on the first Tuesday in March). Salina had a citizen-submitted petition to lift a ban on pit bulls, and the city commission decided to put it to a vote.

It's (special) election time! Last year, we passed a bill to have a single special election day each year instead of allowing them throughout the first half of the year. This year's falls on March 3, which means that mail ballots were sent yesterday, and some counties have begun early voting! #ksleg

The big ones will be a sales tax measure in Wichita and a $389m school bond vote in Olathe, the second biggest district in the state. #ksleg

ICYMI: Last week, we added 2024 presidential election data to the site. If you go into the election results page, you can view the results broken down by any of the geographies we have available (county, city, state leg districts, etc.). You can also map them! #ksleg
