Time to wrap up the year, let’s look at some numbers 🤓 But before we do: thank you everyone for supporting Gleam's journey in 2025! Huge thank you to every contributor, sponsor, supporter, to all the Gleamlins and Gleam-curious people. You rock! ⭐

"We’ve started using Gleam to orchestrate all of the background jobs that happen in our system. Gleam’s type system, along with classic BEAM goodness like supervision trees, has given us total confidence that our code will handle just about anything we throw at it" - @ihh.dev ⭐

I have once again been nerd-sniped by @lpil.uk into writing a Gleam package. This time, it's a lightweight, high-perf client for Redis-compatible databases, called Valkyrie! The library includes a connection pool, and has been tested against Redis, Valkey, KeyDB and Dragonfly.

Check out what we've been working on for the past little while!

🔹Giacomo Cavalieri & Isaac Harris-Holt: Talks on #Gleam at Lambda Days 2025🔹 @giacomocavalieri.me dives into #Squirrel, a Gleam library for #type-safe #database access, while @ihh.dev explains how Gleam can simplify #backend architecture. 🎟️ Don't miss their talks on the Lambda Days agenda!

When asked what they liked about Gleam, developers responded with: "It's very braindead" "Gleam is Haskell for normies" "The core team is very fasionable" "I don't have to configure TS" I think I've picked the right language

The Rover bot just stopped us from shipping a buggy feature to prod (again). You get: a better experience exploring your codebase graphs we get: to not waste another development cycle fixing it #devtools #softwaredevelopment #dev

For those who don't really get why creators are making a big deal of the whole Honey drama, 91.8% of my income this year (excluding refunds) has been from affiliate revenue. If Honey worked on the sites I'm affiliated with, I probably would've lost thousands.

I'm disgusted by everything that's come out, and I hope you are too. I hate having cause to write a post like this, but hey-ho. That's enough negativity for now. I hope to leave this behind and celebrate the onset of the new year this evening. Happy holidays!

Seeing that taken away from people I know, often with Honey contributing literally nothing to the buyer's shopping experience, and often silently, is heartbreaking, and I'm kicking myself for being stupid enough to use Honey for this long.

Frankly, PayPal should know better, and I hope they clean up their act sharpish. Needless to say, I won't be using Honey again, and I've cashed out as much of my "Honey Gold" as I could and will be making a donation to charity matching the value I've accrued over the last few years.

I'm in a fortunate enough position where the only thing affected by this income is my content, and not my livelihood (I aim to keep the two financially separate), but many small creators aren't that lucky and have to depend on this income to put food on the table.

I travelled to my parents by electric assist bicycle this Christmas. It was really fun and satisfactory practical! Give it a go! Cycling is fantastic for the body and the local community.

honestly, one of my favorite things about gleam is the namespace separation i can have a module, function, and variable all named "grid" and not run into name conflict issues that, on top of variable shadowing, makes naming things so... fearless

What is it with every app having a Spotify Wrapped equivalent these days? Thanks Crunchyroll, but I don't need to know that I've spent 400 hours watching anime 😭
