At your last townhall in California you were asked point blank if you supported soft-secession, and you danced around the answer. Californians are tired of paying the bills for the rest of the country and your stand on this issue will determine whether or not I vote for you!

As a western-mostly California-formed person in outlook, there are definitely those feelings..the idea of “soft secession” is gaining ground in several of these states-who were originally forced to band together when trump tried to cut off COVID aid to them and favor red states-guess we’ll see.

California is already entering into pacts with countries, sending state representation where only countries would attend. It's a soft secession.

I did a lot of voter outreach on Prop 50. So many people (normies 😊) said it didn’t go far enough. Wanted to talk about California secession. People are PISSED.

I'm starting the take the California secession movement more seriously. As a lifelong Californian, I don't know why I would want to support a Federal government that doesn't know how to govern, or attempts to do so from the point of a view of a shitty mob crew.

Understandably, many people scoffed at the first (or second, or hundredth) mention of California secession. And it's never properly been studied, because why would we? But the burner only gets so hot before you jerk your hand away. Suddenly New West America doesn't seem so farfetched or silly.

Without calling for blue state secession, I will say this: I think we either find a way to get rid of the Electoral College and the other baked in aspects of our constitutional system that give rabid white Christians disproportionate power, or the country will inevitably split at some point

Robyn Pennacchia@robynelyse.bsky.social

As much as I fully understand that it's problematic to wish we could split into two countries, because obviously there are lots of non-MAGA people in red states and vice versa ... It's hard not to wish we could just magic all of the non-horrible people into one area a split the fuck off today.

Why do we let fascists who hate us rule us from three time zones away? They don't understand our open and inclusive culture, and they are terrorizing us by attacking the lives, families, communities, and workers who make us strong and rich. Let's get out of this dying fascist empire! #FreeTheBear
