It was really exciting last night to meet the cast of TNG. This turned out to be a literal dream, but it was still fun. I was however surprised that Brent Spiner wasn't enthused by me liking his role in Independence Day.

i've never had a christmas jumper before and i need help deciding, pls. (i know it's october but it's manky out and i want to feel cosy)

😂 Y'all are laughing at the BBC Cyber correspondent not knowing that PHP exists. To be fair, the bar just isn't that high. None of their health or politics correspondents know that trans people exist...

Jackdaw can only provide about 2% of our gas requirements and will not bring down our bills which are set to the most expensive thing. We need to focus on investment AWAY from fossil fuels for a more sustainable, more affordable, greener future.

🚨 BREAKING: The UK Labour Government have approved the Jackdaw gas field. This a devastating betrayal of future generations. Jackdaw will make the UK even more dependent on the global gas market. This will do nothing to lower household energy bills and it is dishonest to pretend that it will.

I hate this evil government. Because of the climate emergency we should be installing heat pumps in all homes, not drilling for more oil.

Today's decision by Labour to approve new drilling in the North Sea is climate vandalism. It's a betrayal of all of our futures, and Labour has abandoned all credibility in the fight against climate change. This is a victory for Shell over the people. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cw...

it’s not *technically* a new approval, it won’t bring down bills but Labour are doing that we promise, Andy Burnham says we’re using gas anyway so might as well extract more, technically oil and gas extraction is fine as long as no-one burns it, plus it’s good for the economy

I may have stumbled upon the reason transphobes are afraid of electromagnetic radiation.

the labour mp who wants to ban trans people from hospitals also thinks 5G causes cancer because of course she does

feeling the loss of sinéad (collins), when I woke up. Obviously she was university lovely and loved. It's also a reminder that several of you who live in my phone are important to me. Our online connections aren't a substitute for seeing people IRL, yet they can still be meaningful. 💜

(This has actually been in the pipeline for a while. But Paul Hutcheon still hasn't tweeted for weeks. ScotPol Twitter is dead.)

I like to stay informed, so I was looking for the latest Paul Hutcheon article. Nothing. I hope he's enjoying his 5+ week sabbatical.

Police in Bristol said they asked organisers of a far-right protest in city centre to move it or reschedule, because the big Shine Night Walk big cancer charity 10K fundraising walk of 2,000 people - mainly women - was planned for Friday night. Police confirmed the group refused, so walk postponed.

Software engineering could and should be done with the same care as any other type of engineering. This is a post in honor of Margaret Hamilton (and also a subtweet of all vibe-coders everywhere).

12 years ago the Conservatives promised Scotland ‘devo-max’. Now they show contempt for democracy and plan a powergrab of devolved powers. When we reject them at the ballot box, their answer isn't to improve their policies, it's to threaten the Parliament Scotland elected.
