31-49 year olds are the only age group who can't get a discount on train tickets 🚂 So the @scottishgreens.org are working to introduce a Millennial Railcard giving 1/3 off fares, paid for by a levy on frequent flyers 💚 news.stv.tv/politics/gre...

I am now safe after being detained and interrogated by Israeli forces and denied entry to Palestine alongside other activists and elected representatives. I will share a fuller statement tomorrow. The @scottishgreens.org stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Everyone can get a discount railcard except those in their 30s and 40s. It's time for that to change. By introducing a millennial railcard for 31-49 year olds, we can encourage use of public transport, reduce our emissions, and put money back in people's pockets. 👉 greens.scot/news/greens-...

The message it sends is completely accurate.

Currently wondering what message the UK govt thought it was sending by dressing up the Minister for Net Zero in a literal Shell logo.

It's simply not good enough for the First Minister to sit on the fence when it comes to new oil and gas. John Swinney can double down on fossil fuels. Or he can protect our future generations from climate breakdown. But he can’t do both. He must tell the people of Scotland where he stands.

Business flights within the UK are literally fuelling climate breakdown. The Scottish Greens would tax those super-wealthy frequent flyers to fund a millennial railcard for those who currently cannot access discounts on rail travel to make public transport cheaper for everyone.

Families on their annual holiday shouldn’t pay the same rate of tax as wealthy and business travellers who fly on a weekly basis. Scottish Greens would tax the super-rich frequent flyers who are wrecking our climate.

Companies like Amazon profited from our communities while giving far too little back. Scottish Greens would tax billionaire online retailers and use the money raised to support small businesses on our high streets.

Yet another dismaying example of the Scottish Government failing to turn its stated policy into action. With the majority of Parliament, the SNP voted for boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel and companies complicit in occupation. This must become reality. Well done ASLEF and RMT ✊

NEW: ScotRail train drivers have vowed to refuse to drive new trains if a firm linked to Israel’s illegal settlements wins a major public contract Aslef has hit out at Transport Secretary Stephen Flynn over the decision to allow Spanish firm CAF to bid for the contract

Jackdaw will do nothing for the people of Scotland. Plans show it will provide just 2% of UK gas demand, only create 27 jobs, and it will leave us more dependent on gas despite its global fluctuating prices. Investing in renewables will create thousands of jobs and cut household energy bills.

Let's demand better. Other parties are working hand in hand with fossil fuel lobbyists. The Scottish Greens are working for the communities who have been exploited by the fossil fuel industry. We will always push to create well-paid sustainable jobs and to cut household bills. greens.scot/join

Jackdaw won't bring down bills or create many jobs. But it will leave us even more dependent on volatile global gas markets, and worsen the climate chaos we already see around us. It's shocking that no other party is willing to stand up for our planet against the greed of oil and gas companies.

Labour’s decision to approve Jackdaw is climate vandalism. It will make the UK even more dependent on gas despite its wildly fluctuating prices in the global market. That will do absolutely nothing to lower household energy bills and it is dishonest to pretend that it will.

Gas is a global product, of which, the price is set by international markets, that keep soaring due to conflicts. Even domestic gas follows these prices. Labour's own Energy Secretary admitted that Jackdaw will have no impact on "affordability and bills". Let's demand better. greens.scot/join

Labour in Westminster has approved the Jackdaw gas field despite the fact it was ruled unlawful by Scottish courts back in 2022. This is another example of the Westminster government blatantly ignoring Scotland’s autonomy and judiciary system, while Scots and the North East pay the ultimate price.

Awful news to wake up to today. New oil and gas fields won't bring down our bills and won't create secure jobs, and will only cause untold damage to our climate. We need a Just Transition now, and governments brave enough to end our reliance on fossil fuels

Feeling terrified about the future as the UK drops it's commitment to climate and transition away from fossil fuels. It didn't have to go like this.

This is unvarnished climate vandalism. Energy bills will not be cut by the approval of Jackdaw. The least we should expect of our Government in a climate emergency is not making things worse. If you're as scunnered by this as I am, join us - www.greens.scot/join

Reckless for the climate, useless for energy security this decision shows the UK is prepared to gamble with our future and it sends a message out globally that others can do the same 🔥🌍

Labour's approval of the Jackdaw gas field won't cut household energy bills or improve energy security. We need investment in cheap, green renewables to create jobs and cut our bills.

The money being thrown at oil and gas companies should instead be used to insulate homes and help people swap out their gas boilers for heat pumps. We can save people money, but not with new fossil fuels. Let's demand better. greens.scot/join

Jackdaw can only provide about 2% of our gas requirements and will not bring down our bills which are set to the most expensive thing. We need to focus on investment AWAY from fossil fuels for a more sustainable, more affordable, greener future.

The SNP is set to welcome the approval of new fossil fuel drilling with open arms. Swinney is going to back Andy Burnham in playing fast and loose with our climate just to cosy up to fossil fuel billionaires. We are in a climate emergency; it's about time that both our governments act like it.

Burnham is sending UK troops to Saudi Arabia to back their horrific bombing campaign in Yemen. The Saudi's have committed horrific war crimes in Yemen, causing a famine and cholera outbreak. The UK shouldn't be backing them under any circumstances.

BBC Scotland has been a launchpad for a lot of Scottish creative talent; closing it is a massive step backwards. There is already a significant gap between the BBC’s licence fee income in Scotland and its identified spend in our country. Scotland deserves better.

The first Reform MSP has fallen. Amanda Bland has resigned from Reform to sit as an independent. There are just 16 Reform MSPs remaining. May the odds be ever in your favour.

Communities are worried about the huge boom in hyperscale data centre applications. Last month, Parliament backed Green proposals to pause new applications, but the Scottish Government have taken no action to make the pause a reality. We need action, not words from the Government.
