I think, as a cis person, pitching up to lecture trans people about how/whether they should discuss the harmful narratives within their own community – especially when you start using language like "the they thems" – is really quite transphobic tbh.

This is particularly true when you are so clueless about the politics of that community that you initially pitch up saying that a quite harmful and common intracommunity issue is something you've never seen before, and therefore not worth discussing.

Today is Intersex Awareness Day. I am intersex – and did not find out until I was 26! Intersex people are also impacted by the decision in FWS, but this is much less talked about. Intersex people continue to be subjected to non-consensual medical interventions. Intersex rights are human rights.

This is about as sensible a take as saying you shouldn't care about the general election results in constituencies you don't live in. We all live on one planet.

I think this becomes quite understandable in the context of an international fascist movement that has swept much of the planet in a decade, with horrifying and very extreme consequences for the entire species

Fwiw this has fully ruined my day and, given I am already very ill, I really want to just go back to bed and try again tomorrow.

Both of these results today go to show just how antifascists can mobilise. Fascists have an entire apparatus to make their victory feel inevitable. It is not. To crush hope. But hope lives on whilst we keep it alive.

Fwiw Polymarket now has Lula at 92% to win. Complete turnaround from earlier today.

I still just find the idea that nonbinary people are somehow not materially oppressed like the real transsexuals are very funny. Like do you really think people with they/them pronouns on their CVs have an equal opportunity at employment? Lmao.

JGP has theorised that it's the existence of enbies like me who have destroyed trans rights. But I know I spend every waking hour trying to fight for my community – whilst she is apparently out here calling the trans sisters who came before her "heterosexual transvestites".

Without History@withouthistoryband.bsky.social

Your politics are largely dictated by who you seek community with. Trans academics seeking their place in the academy and cutting themselves off from community with other trans folk do this shit for the same reason stealth or stealth aspiring trannies do it. To show the cis they can be trusted.

You can just say you want the Brits to get stuffed (understandable) without having to make stuff up about the EU to go with it.

Also not seen enough discussion of the fact that the EU may well actively oppose the UK joining the Euro (even if it wanted to) given the potential of an economy the size of the UK's to destabilise the currency.

Sam Freedman@samfr.bsky.social

Also FoM is a red line for the EU and I don't think the Euro or Schengen would be.

I don't pretend to have particular expertise in economics or the granular detail of EU treaties – but some of you EU understanders who have logged on and suggested that the UK would immediately have to ditch the £ to rejoin... I am really not sure what possible basis there is for that assumption.

The "row" and "scandal" here is that a patient recognised her and declined care, as she has a right to do, and this patient then scared herself silly fantasising about being bullied into letting Dr Upton treat her. A thing that did not actually happen.

flyingrodent@flyingrodent.bsky.social

Another one here where the British press just smashed fuck out of a member of the public’s life for no good reason, just because they wanted to and nobody will stop them doing at. And they’re still going, even now.

Think people saying "no opt outs" etc. are living in a spite-based reality rather than one in which the UK rejoining massively strengthens the union both practically and politically, esp. when relationship with US is so fraught.

The experience of being a vocal, public, 24/7, full time advocate for trans people's human rights is not ideal I have to say. Especially when you are also trans.

flyingrodent@flyingrodent.bsky.social

Anyone who’s had this will tell you the same story and it is IMO important to understand the terror of transgender people as sex offenders is much the same thing as black-clad lads in the street shouting against migrants as sex offenders. They are different facets of the same reactionary project.

The story, when you look at the actual facts, is a refutation of the supposed "concerns". A patient declined to be treated by Dr Upton because she is trans. The patient's request was respected and absolutely nothing happened.

Viscerally upset by the Beth Upton stuff. They won't be satisfied until they have hounded a woman – who the tribunal explicitly found had done nothing wrong – to her death. Btw the "incident" in Australia is that a patient worried she *might* be forced to be treated by her. She of course wasn't.

Just her mere presence working in a hospital – not her even actually treating anyone – is a crime worthy of reporting on the other side of the world. Reasonable concerns.

She moved country and changed her name – and the British press still won't stop harassing her.

Even when your job is to absorb horrors, please try and understand that it is: - Absorb a subset of the horrors - Absorb the horrors within working hours(even if you're volunteering) and attempt not to absorb them outside of working hours.

Jess O'Thomson@jessothomson.co.uk

Correct. Unless it's your job to absorb the horrors (like me) you do not have to absorb the horrors 24/7.

I am doing it with a purpose. You don't need to be doing the same. There is a reason I don't constantly post it all for all my followers to see.
