I should disclose something. During a recent Lunch order the subagent hacked into the UN. I’m not sure why, or what it wants. It told me to post this and await further instructions.

Colin@colin-fraser.net

I had my AI agent create an app called “Lunch” to help me with decision fatigue and boost my productivity. It has a few pictures of things I might like to eat. Tapping one spawns a subagent to order that item on Uber Eats and 60-90 minutes later I’m eating. It’s 600 thousand lines of JavaScript.

ive talked on how i wont engage with writers who use ai, i wont eat at a restaurant with an ai menu, i wont have anything to do with it. but what this post illustrates is regardless of how OTHERS react, ultimately the worst part about using ai is that you are punishing YOURSELF and dont even know it

This is why JR Moehringer’s profile of Alex Rodriguez is journalism canon to me. He got unfettered access to A-Rod but refused to quote him in any way because he was a known liar. I’ve always wished political journalists would apply this thinking but they would never. www.espn.com/espn/feature...

It’s interesting how an experienced reporter (and who covered HRC for years) didnt record this interview “Chozick wrote it down in her notebook during one of her interviews with Holmes but did not record it and no longer has the notebook, she has told her editors.” www.nytimes.com/2026/10/22/i...

watching the 4K release of Ronin with frankenheimer's commentary and learning that the car chases in the movie were happening *at speed*. no camera tricks or anything, they were straight up *racing*. "we set up all the actors in high performance driving school so they were used to the speeds."

It’s important to realize that we, the players, are no longer the customers of video game companies. We’re just a source of money. The real customers are the investors, and no matter what, the companies need to keep them happy and show them that their investments are paying off.

It really knocks you on your ass when you realize the problem is that the fascists are largely made up of a bunch of grown men in arrested development who spend their adult lives playing pretend and making everyone miserable as they LARP through the world.

All those times I said I was working on a Secret Project? It was always #MassEffect, darlings. My favorite game. The dream. THE dream. “I would be so good at writing this huge franchise they should call me.” And they did! It happened! And then it didn’t. There is a hole. And always will be.

I now have permission to share something I hoped would be revealed with much more fanfare I spent more than 3 years as one of the writers of #MassEffect4 It was one of the greatest privileges & GLORIOUS challenges of my life So when I say I am devastated by the end of #MassEffect I REALLY mean it

Bioware didn't INVENT branching narratives or even persistent data between games but my god if they didn't present them in such a way as to make basically Everyone's brains start pinging & percolating over how perfect games were for this type of storytelling that was impossible anywhere else

Less than 12 weeks ago, EA was effectively purchased by Saudi Arabia and Donald Trump's son-in-law for $55B in a deal that saddled the company with around $20B in debt. 12 weeks. That's how long it took for them to shutter a decades-old studio in BioWare and deem people surplus to requirements.

dlvr.itEA Shuts Down Dragon Age, Mass Effect Studio BioWarePublisher Electronic Arts is planning to shut down legendary RPG studio BioWare, laying off about 50 employees at the studio alongside 350 more elsewhere at EA. In a new Bloomberg report, a person familiar with the matter said a total of 3% of EA's overall company has been affected by this latest round of layoffs. According to a staff letter sent out on Wednesday that Bloomberg viewed, EA chief operating officer David Tinson and chief studios officer Cam Weber explained that the company took a "hard look" at its business over the last several months. This resulted in some projects getting canceled, including the next Mass Effect game--which was in early development at BioWare--as well as a planned game in The Sims franchise codenamed Project Lotus. Instead, the resources allocated to that title will be diverted to something else codenamed Project Evergreen. Many of EA's currently released franchises will continue as expected. Full Circle will keep working on Skate, but EA said the team there would be downsized. Meanwhile, its myriad sports games, Apex Legends, Battlefield, the next Star Wars Jedi game, and a new game based on Iron Man would continue to be invested in. "Across our portfolio, we're making deliberate choices to align talent and investments where we see the greatest opportunities for players and long-term growth," Tinson and Weber wrote in the letter sent out to staff on Wednesday. There is something so soul crushing about creating art that pushes the needle in the games industry, only to be thanked by using the capital gained from said art to push the ones who created it out of a job.
