I don't know when I'm going to use these seventy year old flash bulbs my grandpa gave me, but the packaging is too cool to throw out

“Let’s huddle on this” *sends a google meet link* Every time.

Boo!-per Lund@cooperlund.online

Slack Huddle audio doesn't work like one out of every ten times, right? That's not just me?

Btw, even among pro AI friends, this concern is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Devs wondering how we get senior devs if the ecosystem for junior devs goes away. Doctors talking about not needing interns. Lawyers not needing paralegals. There's an ecological aspect to this and we need a plan.

I had an older professor once say “it was harder back then bc floating point arithmetic wasn’t invented yet.” I’m guessing I’ll eventually be saying “I hand-wrote that yaml because LLMs hadn’t been invented yet.”

I’ve gotten this a couple times so one thing to clear up: At this point I think AI coding is akin to having a new compiler, and the language is just natural text (often specs). LLMs do not currently have the capability to make good engineering decisions past a certain level of complexity

Donald Trump came one vote away from getting the Supreme Court to say that the 14th Amendment does not guarantee birthright citizenship for the children of undocumented and temporary immigrants, a view held only by fringe far-right nativists until VERY recently. This is shocking. I am stunned.

Look at these delinquents loitering back in December 2024. Truly dark times then.

“Loitering is not permitted in this area. Please proceed to a designated location. Thank you for your cooperation,” a surveillance machine tells a small cluster of National Guard members as they patrol the fenced off Reflecting Pool in the rain.

Everyone is hyped about some baseball team called the New York Knicks? I've been seeing the logo everywhere and thought it would work great for a generator - have fun with the NY Knicks custom logo generator!

So refreshing to read nuanced threads about complex topics from experts who have seen firsthand what goes into building these systems. Great share, and brings up interesting problems I wasn’t aware of!

I've seen a lot of chatter today about Instagram ending support for optional End-to-End Encrypted DMs. I helped to lead on cryptography and privacy for E2EE in Messenger and Instagram for many years, until I left around 10 months ago, so it's disappointing to see it being removed from Instagram.

We now have data from Trump's first full year in office. Let's review the performance of Trump and the two parties since 1989 and a new age of globalization began. However you cut the data Trump continues to have worst jobs record of last six Presidents. 1/

Get fucked little bo peep bovino.

Nick Miroff@nickmiroff.bsky.social

BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up. I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.
