Hundreds of people showed up to Saturday’s march for a data center moratorium. Enough is enough. No more excuses. Virginia needs a pause now.

Wittman says Medicaid changes only hit able-bodied adults. VA work requirement starts Jan 1: 80 hrs/month, rechecked every 6 months. Some state officials told KFF the rushed timeline risks unnecessary coverage losses. CBO: 5.3M more uninsured from this alone. Able-bodied ≠ good at paperwork. Vote.

That’s also why Vivek isn’t exactly lying when he says he didn’t mean to say Acton lied about being raped as a child. He doesn’t think she lied; he thinks that being raped disqualifies her from office, because she belongs to the class of people power is wielded against, not the class that wields it.

Heather Massey reposted

I don’t think this is exactly what’s going on, or all that’s going on. It’s not that Republicans are constructing an elaborate psychological defense against evidence that Trump is a rapist. It’s that they like that he’s a rapist, and they like rape: it enacts the power of the strong over the weak.

Julian Sanchez@normative.bsky.social

The vile attacks on Amy Acton need to be seen in the context of a party that *needs* people to believe women fabricating sexual assaults is common as rainwater. Because it’s pretty much the only way to evade the conclusion that the president is a rapist.

Meta recently updated their terms of service to require any businesses that use their products to turn over their intellectual property in exchange for access to their platforms. I’m urging Meta to reverse this decision and compensate creators and publishers for their work.

I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

Sounds like an oversight job that my rep, Congressman Rob Wittman, should do as Vice Chair of the House Armed Services Committee, but he likely won’t. Has he abdicated his duty to his district, America, and Ukraine? 😡 #VA-01, vote for @shannontaylorva.com! www.wittmanwatch.com/p/seniority-...

After the first round elections, Congressman André Janones created a WhatsApp channel titled “Lula’s Army.” It ballooned to 10 million people following his commands on how to behave online to counteract Meta’s far-right-favouring algorithms. The right knows how to use socials. We must learn, too.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

Ultimately, if you only have time to know one thing about all of this, just know that not a single solitary tech oligarch, tech company, or tech-backed politician has a single solitary serious commitment to the existence of Black political power or economic security in their plans for the future.

Right, so, male influencers are being sent out to tell Black people that resisting data centers is wrong actually because people don't understand how to really measure their water use. It’s an appeal to scientific expertise intended to intimidate Black people.

Re last post: The other night my husband and I were chatting about movies. At one point I said “Peter Gunn” when I meant “James Gunn” (it’s ok to laugh—my husband & I did). The next evening, a Peter Gunn video appeared on YouTube. 😱 Chance? I doubt it. I hadn’t mentioned Peter Gunn in years.

I hadn't even *thought* about the Peter Gunn series in years, so for YT to serve up a Peter Gunn themed video after a slip of my tongue was super weird. Our TV isn't connected to the internet, so maybe it was a device listening, but either way the experience was unsettling.

Why isn’t there a revolution in America? According to two sociologists in their book “Normalizing Inequality”, it’s because we normalize inequality. There’s three patterns of behavior they found that prevents us from building community to create structural change.

Americans are poorer and sicker because of Trump & Wittman. They cut $911+ BILLION from Medicaid alone, and cut the ACA credits. Where's Trump's new plan? Nowhere. You're left paying the consequences. Taylor will restore ACA credits and work to roll back cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. #VoteTaylorVA01

Rob Wittman must be shook about Shannon Taylor accusing him of getting rich off Congress because these ads with him saying he's not rich and the only reason he has money is because his parents died keep running and running.

Still feeling salty about this campaign ad. Rep. Rob Wittman of #VA-01 cosplaying as a working-class guy/man-of-the-people isn't fooling anyone.

Heather Massey@heathermassey.com

My rep, Rob Wittman of #VA-01, claiming in a campaign ad that him living in the same house since 1985 doesn’t make him rich is such a crock of crap. I own an old car with a missing hubcap and worn-off paint but it sure as heck doesn’t mean I’m poor. I see right through you, Propaganda Rob.

Horror Anthology Vol. 1 (2022; Tubi) is decent. For some reason half of them feature a maternal theme. The short I liked the most was “Polaroid.” Pretty spooky. Even though I'm a longtime horror fan who's familiar with the trope in it, I still had to partially cover my eyes.🫣

#VA01 Another example of cowardly Rob Wittman doing nothing to protect his district. Rob will ALWAYS support Trump’s agenda even though he promotes himself as an environmentalist. #VA01 deserves better. Vote @shannontaylorva.com

I’ve been watching Doll Factory (2014; Tubi) in parts. S far, it’s not great but it’s not terrible, either. Can’t recommend unless you’re a hardcore fan of haunted doll films, low-budget horror films, and cheap special effects. It doesn’t have different types of dolls, either. 😩
