Here is the October stream schedule for the Elon Take The Wheel Livestream Guests include the authors of "Muskism," "Hubris Maximus," and "More Everything Forever," as well as a very special stream on October 20, in partnership with @bsky.app, featuring Alex Gibney, director of "MUSK." So excited!

historical inaccuracy might actually be the least of this video's many sins

the beggars out of here getter@milesklee.bsky.social

In July, an incensed Elon Musk vowed that Grok Imagine would produce a "full-length" and "historically accurate" adaptation of Homer's Odyssey to put Christopher Nolan's woke version to shame. Three months later, we got seven minutes of slop that Grok itself admits is not historically accurate.

come for a meme-fueled discussion of one of the interesting topics around, stay for me shocking @adambecker.bsky.social and momentarily derailing the whole deal by shouting out @cara.city's incredible bumper sticker creation

I had so much fun chatting with @adambecker.bsky.social this morning, it really got my Monday started right... give the VOD a watch if you missed it live! youtu.be/Od5bsEgyeJM

I'm wildly biased on this front, but I continue to believe the last decade of self-driving technology remains one of the best ways to understand how "AI" will and will not have a lasting impact

Regime Accountant, CPA ☠️🎢@regimecpa.bsky.social

AI really does change the speed at which you can do things but every product is still very 80 / 20. Getting to the MVP feels really good and goes really fast, getting the UI to actually work in a sane way is going to require a lot of annoying and frankly boring testing / use.

driving and language are very different in a lot of ways, and language offers a lot more tractable and (critically) value-creating use cases (like coding), but we're definitely seeing the same push-pull between runaway solutionist hype and the importance of understanding use cases to create value

I will not subject your innocent eyes to the jumpscare of Greeks roasting meat on a fire using their spears, but suffice to say that images of food remains the kryptonite of generative AI

ok, made it through the first seven minute "episode" alive (if not well)... maybe the wildest part of the whole thing, besides the sheer slop of it all, is the fact that it somehow can't escape some of the aesthetic trappings of Nolanism 0/10, content fit only for enhanced interrogation purposes

the way the faces wrinkle when the Greeks are trying to express masculine resolve really gives away the game that the actors are actually soul stealers from the torment dimension

almost five minutes in, and it's just straight up ripping off the scene from "Troy" where Achilles is firing up the Myrmidons before taking the beach this isn't even the Odyssey, bro

strange new frontiers in telling on yourself

Roose does a very nice job signaling in the second paragraph what sort of book this will be. He decided to write it the night after partying with ketamine-snorting effective accelerationists. He isn’t e/acc himself, but he hangs with that crowd and accepts their premises as newsworthy,

FWIW I said this almost verbatim during last year's CES recording of "Better Offline," the only difference now is my confidence level

there's no question that there's still a lot of froth in "AI," but having watched Tesla plow through multiple crises with vastly worse business fundamentals than what Anthropic is disclosing I'm not sure I'd get too hung up on a transformative bubble pop scenario

say what you want about our society, we're producing nightmare blunt rotations at world historical levels

what's interesting about the unfolding landscape is that the froth/risk is not evenly distributed... there's still an important and interesting story there, but getting it right probably requires letting go of the juicy apocalyptic scenario

sorry, but it's very hard to take your warnings of existential risk seriously when you are simultaneously throwing up to $120 billion at Elon Musk

*ANTHROPIC AGREED TO SPEND UP TO $120.5B ON SPACEXAI DEALS - for you @ed3d.net

Elon and the Ellisons sitting on piles of nearly >8.5% debt for their entirely optional, ego-fueled bullshit has me cracking a smile, chat

Here are $LQD holdings >8.50%. So it's.... $ORCL (AI capex binge), $SKYD (over-levered media roll-up with massive execution risk), and $CHTR (cable TV melting ice cube)..

For reference, this is an IG credit. Almost 3% over the Baa (BBB) index. Going hunting to figure out if there are any other IG bonds trading at this kind of yield. *SPACEX PRICES BONDS AT UP TO 8.75% ON $40B CREDIT DEAL: SEMAFOR

huh, maybe unconstrained drug-fueled egomania isn't actually good for the economy... hard to say tho, let's see how this plays out

SE Gyges@segyges.bsky.social

and: yes, endorse, this is true or very close to true. he bought too many GPUs, he cannot really make money on them, he has been offloading them in bulk and still has too many, he is either deliberately crashing the price to thin the market or might as well be also Anthropic is keeping him alive

"there's no credit left, and I got the last of it" is a hilarious flex
