As an infrastructure SaaS, these are the metrics we'd typically price on. With everything being optimized within an inch of its life... we can't really do that. 😅

All of this is to say that we don't know yet (not for sure, anyway) what the cost will be. What we do know: - We want to be fair - We want to be competitive - We want to pay our bills Also, no matter what pricing we land on, there will definitely be spend caps.

We've all read the threads about surprise invoices. A service drops without spend controls and users get hit with gajillion dollar invoices. Or somebody forgets to set the spend controls. Either way, it sucks.

We want to offer competitive, predictable pricing. The thing is, we've kinda screwed the pooch here because HappyView is ridiculously efficient. - CPU utilization is minimal - Memory usage is low - With the network store, network ingress is nil

Love the framing of "build on atproto without the hard parts." In the early days there were definitely people who complained that it was too tricky to build, but now we're seeing people making it easier and easier at almost every level. The excitement that "we can just build things" can bring...

Scripts are where HappyProto gets to flex. They can: - Write and edit records on a user's PDS - React to records being created, updated, deleted, or labeled - Kick off long-running async jobs - Use plugins from the registry - Store anything in the local database, not just records

If your app needs it, a script can probably do it. Write them in TypeScript, JavaScript, or Lua today. Rust, Go, Zig, C/C++, and many other languages are on the way. Building on atproto should feel easy. Join the waitlist and we'll let you know when we open the doors.
