Going home after C++ Under the Sea 2026 (The Netherlands 🇳🇱). Thanks for inviting me to speak - I had a wonderful time with this community; so many folks came up to me to talk and I ended up meeting a lot of interesting people. cppunderthesea.nl/program

This is my new favorite women's basketball photo, showing Paige Bueckers (6'0") and Zhang Ziyu (7'4"). Please note two things: - Bueckers doing the IRL "😳" face - That both of these women are significantly taller than the average for cis women, yet both are cisgender

Someone saw a black mirror episode and thought "this is it, this is the idea I was looking for"

A new Meta patent published Thursday says a system, like its AI glasses, would use facial recognition to identify people, create a series of video clips, then provide you with a highlight reel of your night. www.404media.co/meta-patents...

Poking about with compile time consteval programming. Finally understanding why @hanicka.net wants everything to be constexpr. Also, trying to bridge the gap from compile time data to static constants at runtime is painful...

It feels like "you do the work for us, but you are limited in number of keystrokes on this keyboard, or if you use this worst keyword, you can do twice more keystrokes"

I really enjoy reading what's new in html/css/wasm/js world. I miss the sense of wonder about c++ changes.

If you're dealing with SVG icons you probably know the pain of overwriting colors. There's a new spec in the making that allows controlling CSS variables from "the outside". And it's shipping in Firefox already! https://drafts.csswg.org...

Replying to @mors.games

whenever you see an ai generated port, recomp, mod loader, or a reverse engineering project, know that it's built on top of work done by those of us who were here before, doing this stuff not for the glory, but for the love of it

I'm maybe too deep in the rabbit hole. libstdc++'s file_clock::time_point has nanosecond precision, and ends on original expected return date of Voyager from the delta quadrant. Anything past that will travel into past.

Here's an easter egg in the new Lego Batman that I think all of you will REALLY appreciate. It's so good, I had to make a video.

C++: we have a robust type system, turing complete template, exceptions, overloading, type deduction, concepts to check types. Also C++: here is pointer into a compiler datastructure, it can be anything, you need to check it, otherwise your compilation will fail with a `std::meta::exception`
