Medication abortion is safe, effective and used in 65% of all US abortions. Access shouldn’t be up for debate. Share to put facts front and center: https://gu.tt/3WALXH0
Anti-abortion states have always imposed unjust restrictions, like forced waiting periods and TRAP laws. Dobbs supercharged that trend, as our Guttmacher expert @imaddowzimet.bsky.social told @rewirenewsgroup.com, reshaping abortion access and patterns of travel for care nationwide.
Abortion is back on the ballot this November, and the stakes are high. Guttmacher experts break down how these measures will shape the future of #AbortionRights & access in Idaho, Nevada, Virginia & Missouri. Read more via @elpais.com: https://gu.tt/4in1pz0
It is no surprise that the FDA is delaying their safety review of mifepristone until March 2027. This review is a political exercise to appease anti-abortion advocates and policymakers. The facts remain the same: Mifepristone is safe, effective and essential.
During National Hispanic Heritage Month & every day, protecting immigrants' health & well-being is crucial to expanding reproductive freedom for all. Our new fact sheet examines the Trump administration's anti-immigrant agenda & how policymakers can fight back. Learn more: https://gu.tt/4s0CiFj
Voters in Idaho, Nevada, Virginia and Missouri will decide the future of #ReproductiveRights in their state through ballot measures this year. 3 states will feature measures supporting abortion rights, while Missouri's anti-abortion measure would roll back protections. Learn more: gu.tt/47BIZUZ

50 years ago, Congress first enacted the Hyde Amendment—blocking federal Medicaid funding from covering abortion. This racist & coercive policy falls hardest on people with low incomes, Black, Indigenous & other people of color. Hyde must end now. Get the facts: https://gu.tt/3XTwksI #Hyde50
Thank you @booker.senate.gov & @schakowsky.house.gov for reintroducing the Abortion Is Health Care Everywhere Act to end the Helms Amendment—a policy that puts reproductive freedom out of reach for millions of people globally 🌍 #Sept28
Thank you Sen. @murray.senate.gov for introducing the Affordability Is Access Act to require coverage of OTC contraception without cost sharing. This bill could be transformative—including for millions of women who need low- or no-cost birth control, but live in communities without adequate access.
Millions in the US rely on @ppfa.org for affordable birth control. If Planned Parenthood was removed from the publicly funded contraceptive care system, 12.4 million women in need of low- or no-cost #BirthControl would be affected. More in our research with @powertodecide.bsky.social: gu.tt/4y5ai5M

21.4 million women in need of low- or no-cost birth control live in a contraceptive access gap, according to new data from Guttmacher & @powertodecide.bsky.social. The findings paint a stark picture of the reality of birth control access as #ReproHealth & rights face growing threats. @selenasd.com

The EPA's decision to include mifepristone in water testing is the clear result of political pressure from anti-abortion groups—not credible new evidence. Mife remains safe & effective. More via @jessicavalenti.bsky.social: https://gu.tt/4h8aGt4

Bans & restrictions don’t reduce the need for abortion—they push critical health services out of reach. Now, the same playbook used to restrict abortion in the US is being weaponized to attack the full spectrum of #ReproHealth care. Watch the final part of our series & learn more: gu.tt/4aaowbM
Telehealth access to mifepristone has been essential to reproductive freedom for millions of people in the US. Any court decision that reimposes in-person dispensing restrictions on mife would be rooted in political ideology—not science. Get the facts: https://gu.tt/4yjcWV5 #ProtectAbortionMeds
On September 9, arguments will be held in Louisiana v. FDA—a baseless case targeting mifepristone. Access to mife will not change until the case makes its way back to SCOTUS, but the eventual outcome could bring the most dramatic change to #AbortionAccess since Dobbs. More: https://gu.tt/42VEcff

Gloria Steinem did not simply make history. She inspired generations of women to follow their own paths and fight for their right to be in the room. She deeply understood that you need to start by changing culture in order to change policy—and that women will always be the engine behind that change.
