if you ever happen to see someone post a joke you don't understand or discuss a subject you aren't familiar with, you are well within your right to complain, and perhaps even scold them if necessary. you are their customer and you have rights
I'd share a photo of the page I did last night but it's in the kitchen and i'm un the lounge with a dog on me so it's impossible. You'll have to imagine:
A 4-panel b&w abstract comic. Drawn onto a photo of some ivy roots, white paint and black ink disguise where the photo stops and drawing starts
While you're helping Dave, I could really use about four designed pages for a Kickstarter front page + more work once it gets funded! Also a reference book.
Just saw Street Fighter. I liked some bits, didn't care for some buts, hated a small number of bits enough that I risk being an Internet Movie Dickhead by thinking about them while typing.
(it could be that it's been away for months... but I'm just finishing up 'Generation Loss' by Elizabeth Hand and was warming my wallet up to buy the other two Cass Neary books)

As I've been making pages for the sequel to Found Forest Floor I've been making a note on the back of the date and what I've been watching or what's been going on around me. Here's one from yesterday.
Hi y'all, Recently we found out that my brother has a heart condition and will require extensive care.
To cover some of the costs I'm running fundraiser by taking up commissions. Most tiers are affordable so people get some good art while helping us out. Plus a $1000 for those who can spare more.💜💜

Note to self:
When people ask if comics is my full time job, don't laugh out loud and say 'good god no'.
And then, don't follow up with 'I'm recently unemployed'.
I've been absolutely terrible at promoting this but I'll be at SCARF tomorrow!
I'll have a variety of my comics including The Curse (abstract comic about the futility of creation - fun!) and Plants Not Pets, a collection of short comics.
Will be going to sleep soon so I can be up to do the drive.

I'll probably bring the WIPs for my next big book, too. Partly for the curious but mostly as evidence that you don't need fancy stuff to make comics, you just need intention.
This is the Jen Orpin painting which inspired my story 'My Father The Motorway Bridge'... it depicts the bridge that reminds her of her late father... which is also the one just before the junction of the M25 where I take the M3 towards my parents' house the-modernist.org/collections/...
Here's the 100th page of The Curse. It's actually not very much like the other 105 pages I've done, but none of them are actually that similar to each other if I'm honest.

Scrolling through everything I've done for it so far, I reckon about 25% is going to get cut, which means I'm going to have to make even more of these things.

I often think about how the real thought-leaders and futurists are the ones who looked at
-Internet of Things
-NFTs
-Metaverse
-Gen AI
and said, “nope, that’s terrible” in the face of hype cycles and industry-pivots.
Many “innovation agencies” are just following the pack.

Spent the first Monday afternoon of my unemployment painting over printouts of my work with white acrylic paint. Which really is sort of what anybody could have seen coming.
Who remembers back in the 1970s wearing a mask like this from the corner shop, with a bit of slack elastic at the back, dressing in a black bin bag and hollowing out a turnip for a lantern? Not for Halloween or anything, just because we couldn't afford clothes or electricity, and were so ugly.
