Being stretched so thin that you can't directly respond to the people who need a moment of your human attention; that you can't read what people took the time to write you; that you can't plan a vacation or parent your children without the help of an AI agent? What. A. Nightmare.

She was the lead seamstress for the spacesuit Neil Armstrong wore when he walked on the Moon. But history got her name wrong for more than 50 years. This photo was misidentified for decades. Her name is Jean Wilson, and in March 2026, the Smithsonian finally corrected the record. #SheShed #VivaHer

So this is a silly story, but for a year or two in 2013/2014 I went around telling everyone I could find about this little cryptography library called “OpenSSL” and how it was used everywhere, but had almost no developers or security budget.

This can also be applied to BradBrad’s use of the Victory app too. In Toronto Centre, Stikuts was the first one out door knocking, his team came again right before advanced voting. Chow’s team also came around that time. IRL stumping outweighed flooding posts with comments.

RFK jr is an asshole (but we already knew that). Moreover, he's wrong. Why is algebra called that? Who gave us the digit 0 (zero)? And our current number system? Why is the star Betelgeuse called that, for that matter? And so on.

The real unfair competition women are being forced into with men is having women's sports constantly separated off as a distinct event which is made to compete commercially with much better funded and socially and institutionally enfranchised men's sporting events & found inadequate by that standard

I got curious and looked up some numbers. In 2023, Chow won with 37.16% after Tory departed in the midst of a scandal. Today, Chow won with 54.1%. That's a jump of some 17 percentage points *after* she served for three years and showed Toronto what kind of mayor she is - no speculation necessary.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Bolsonaro had corrupt media on his side, Meta interference on his side, US propaganda operations, and his party's officials actively sabotaging public transport in Lula strongholds to prevent turnout. Yet he was still beaten by the power of voter turnout.

Kate Gregory reposted

Seriously. If we had such a law, then someone who wanted to block me from running for office could change her name and get on the ballot first, and even if I were the more serious candidate, if she somehow managed to beat me by a day I'd be screwed.

Andy Craig@andycraig.bsky.social

He claims here that other states have a law saying "somebody with the same name can't run." That is false. In no state is that the law, and it would be unconstitutional. You can have rules about how the ballot is disambiguated, you can't say nobody else with a similar name is allowed to run at all.

Kate Gregory reposted

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.

The popular vote is interesting/frustrating as usual. The BC Conservatives have 48% but a huge majority government thanks to “first past the post.” The NDP+Green total is 49%, more than the Conservatives. Proportional representation would have created a virtual tie with a few government scenarios.

I’ve never seen this before — A problematic party appoints an interim leader and a surprise election is called, a leader that by many accounts is a decent man in a party with many problematic candidates. He/they win in part because he helps normalize them. But will that party KEEP HIM AS LEADER?
