I made an AI video about genzplyr and I lowkey love it. It's also 100% slop. In this post I dig into what makes something slop, when it's ok to share it, and how to avoid it in work that matters. Read more at: substack.hadley.nz/p/what-is-slop

Step by step, day by day, Americans experience the big platforms becoming Orwellian political censors. The US needs a federal government that will tax them and break them up; the democratic world needs to learn the lesson and protect itself.

No amount of support for Russia can end the war, because Russia is the criminal aggressor. A modicum of support for Ukraine could, however, end the war, by making it impossible for Russia to continue. This should not be a hard choice.

⚡️ "Give us Starlink, open it for us on Russian territory, and we will destroy his ballistic missile launchers," Zelenskyy stressed that stopping Russian ballistic launches would force Vladimir Putin to negotiate, rendering further energy strikes unnecessary.

This is absolutely insane, I just rendered this effectively 3.1 billion triangles 900 frame 16 sample per pixel 960x540 animation in #RStats last night in 6 hours using the M1 GPU and #rayrender -- it would have taken a WEEK with the CPU renderer. Completely game changing for iterative work

In case you weren't able to make it, @sara-altman.bsky.social and I wrote up the talk for the @posit.co OSS blog. We talked about the rise of "vibe analysis," the pitfalls of human-in-the-loop, and some new software from Posit. opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-10...

Such an honor to keynote at posit::conf(2026). I still vividly remember the first conf keynote I ever saw, when @jennybryan.bsky.social spoke about debugging in San Francisco. Very grateful for the opportunity (especially to present alongside @sara-altman.bsky.social)!

Excited to present at EEA Dublin in August - until I found two invited presenters affiliated with Russia's Higher School of Economics. HSE has backed the invasion of Ukraine and fundraised for its military. I feel unsafe sharing a room with people raising money to kill my family. #EconSky

If you install #Rstats on macOS with rig, would you like to be able to install different patch versions at the same time? E.g. R 4.6.0 and 4.6.1? See the options below.
