26 days to go! Make sure and vote and when you do vote blue down the ballot. We can’t afford the #CostsOfTrumpsCorruption anymore. People need food, shelter and healthcare. Not an Arch dedicated to Trump. ##Momsky#sheshed

After the digital sculpt was complete, I cut it into parts to fit my printers. Done in zbrush. The head was split into 12 main parts, which were bolted together. Gaps between parts filled. The cuts were made to follow the outline of the scales to reduce visibility of the seams.

Proud to present my lifesize T. rex head, affectionately named Hannibal. I created this myself from start to finish- digital sculpture, resin 3D printing, painting, etc. Huge thanks to my friend @rj-palmer.com for instrumental crits and redlines during the sculpting process.

Follow this guy. Get on his newsletter. It’s science and curiosity gold.

Follow me, and I will show you sciencey stuff that will make you go "WOW!" It may not be useful. It may not be startlingly relevant to any of your problems. It probably won't change your life. But, just for a second, I reckon I can make you look & feel like this. Follow me if you want that. 👍

Just throwing this out there, before International Observe the Moon night in September. You know how the full #Moon is so very bright? My cards have a tiny hole in the middle to cut out the glare and allow you to see surface features in greater clarity. Visit shopwavytail.com for yours. #astronomy

Here is a very handsome Greater Arid-Land Katydid that was creeping up the wall of our house this morning. It was HUGE. #insects

An ocean of stars. This is one of the first images from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory's ten-year-long Legacy Survey of Space and Time! The image covers a region of space about 3°, six times the width of a full Moon—only a tiny portion of the gigantic survey Rubin has embarked upon. Open it up!

I bought a tiny sketchbook. I intend to draw flowers and pretty things in it. But I don’t know where to start. How do you christen a sketchbook?

Being back in Paris meant another chance to visit the Réserves of the @museeartsetmetiers.bsky.social in St Denis. This time I was able to take a microscope to document this astrolabe - thought to be (at least partly) from the workshop of Regiomontanus.

Stephen Johnston@stephenaj.bsky.social

This was a first reconnaissance visit. The exceptional instruments will need further study. Among them an astrolabe from the workshop of Regiomontanus, whose replacement horse was wedged in so tightly that we could not open it. 17/25

Those of you with a Netflix subscription who enjoy #sci-fi should go find the film "Nope". Watched it last night and it was excellently refreshing; quite different from the usual examples of the genre. I spent most of the first half wondering where the heck it was going, and enjoying the ride :-)

Documentary evidence of how long my cat has been sleeping today. She relinquished my lap between naps; but it has to be said that today has been a Lazy Day. #cats

I took a five week art class on #botanicaldrawing and made this pencil drawing of an orchid. I think I might do more of this. #botanicalillustration

You know how supermarket employees wear name tags? I was shopping earlier and an obviously pregnant individual had her own name tag and one lower down for the bump :-) Made me smile.

Unlike most people, this year I have two actual and totally legit birthdays. There's my usual one, which happens next month, and then there's my birthday determined by the orbit of the asteroid named for me, which is... today! Happy Space Potato Birthday to me! whatever.scalzi.com/2026/04/04/t...

Via this post from @thebloggess.bsky.social, I learn that my book Lock In has been banned from schools in New Braunfels, TX. There is irony here in that Lock In won the Alex Award from the ALA, given for "adult books suitable for teens." thebloggess.com/2026/03/25/t...

Important info to know about the SAVE America Act. It addresses a problem that is non existent. The only part of this bill I agree with is that you have to show your ID when you vote and as far as I know we all have to do this already. It is voter suppression. bipartisanpolicy.org/article/five...

These cornhole boards were made by my husband and painted by me. And then it took me ages to figure out how to lacquer them and actually do it, but today the legs were fitted back on so now they’re Done! And we will have the best most colorful games of cornhole in existence.

The Moon, Jupiter and Venus all in a line this morning. I overexposed the crap out of the moon (grabbed this shot mid-workout so didn’t have a ton of time to play) but the terminator looks cool today. Look at all those craters!
