Meanwhile, pro-democracy, pro-Europe protesters in Tbilisi, Georgia, are tonight nearing their 700th consecutive day of protest against the pro-Russian government. They haven't missed a single day in the last 23 months.

Also, because I am a film journalist after all: this new generation coming up has not lived under Brazil’s harrowing dictatorship or felt its terrible after effects in the 80s and 90s, so recent films like I’M STILL HERE and THE SECRET AGENT have been key in helping educate this new crop of voters.

Excellent article that perfectly sums up my views about the new David Geffen Galleries at LACMA. Demeaning to the visitors, the curators dispense with any form of context, cultural relevance, or chronology, eliminating any information about the art/artists. Disastrous. apple.news/A5A62L-GXQTS...

The fetishisation of "debate" as some sort of grand public good that everyone should do is so thoughtless and jarring to me because the more you actually do it the more it becomes apparent that genuinely constructive debate is actually a pretty niche thing.

Support these journalists. This is detail work, not glamorous gossip and it is crucial for our democracy to function that we can all trust it even when we disagree or didn’t vote for the same policies, and that starts with understanding and knowing how it works.

There's a lot of talk right now about what happens *after* votes are cast. So a reminder: Bolts has a state-by-state, 50-state resource on WHO COUNTS AND CERTIFIES the results. Always with the hope that it doesn't end up useful to know, but bookmark it:

I suspect Abdul will still eke out a win regardless, but it’ll be tight.
