Would you still love me if I turned into a tailworm?

Ed@ed3d.net

to little surprise, "Tailscale oh no no no no no" turns out to be...uh. well, you can read it yourself. this is an axe-grinding exercise that uses confident-sounding slop as camouflage.

Allegedly expert folks telling people to "skip Tailscale and go directly to Wireguard"... it must be really hard to have your income & audience depend on something you know very little about and feeling like you must share a completely unprepared opinion and run the dice.

The tailscale tailworm disclosure has to be the laziest ai meatproxy “security research” I’ve ever seen. I don’t think a single sentence was written by a human? The site is pages and pages of LLM word salad.

Two nights ago, I decided to give Claude Code an actual challenge. I dropped a decrypted copy of Bloodborne 1.09 for PS4 into a directory, started 5 agents and told it to decompile it an recompile as a wasm playable game in the browser. I woke up to this:

Claude patched the game to cap at 60fps. And now the game runs at minimum 40fps. I've had to help with some creative solutions, since we found a bug in how Chrome decides to do GC with shard arrays, which was triggering 1000s of GCs. The game now runs all to way to the end.

The game fully plays end to end. Going through the DLCs now. Also, it was able to remove the "play online" options from the menu.

Claude decided that is faster to cheat and set the boss' lifeto zero than trying to fight it. I guess porting Bloodborne is still easier than playing Bloodborne.

On PS4 the game is hard capped at 30 FPS. I've suggested Claude that he could try to get rid of that limitation. I guess it can. Hunter's Dream is already running at ~35 FPS.

Morning updates. As part of being able to debug the game, Claude is having to actually play the game. I wonder if we're going to end up with a full game replay. Here is Claude on a boss fight, running in Chrome, full speed.

After 36h, this is the current status: All the rendering artifacts it found are gone, the game still runs at 7-10 FPS (the actual PS4 game caps at 30 FPS). The replay mechanism auto-plays the game quite a bit and doesn't crash.

The agents were able to navigate the map (they built a little navmesh helper that allowed them to play the game (you could hear the sounds and get to the in game menus or prompts), but the 3D render was, well grey.,

I told the agents to take screenshots and keep a blog of the progress. It's been two days. I'll keep this thread with the blog highlights.

On the first 6h we got to the main menu, the character creation, and the game would crash on map loading. After another chunk of work, we got to this:

It’s weird how everyone is having big apprehensive reaction about a technology that changes the nature of humanity

The US whateverth amendment. "The right of the people to the observance of public holidays, being necessary to the tranquility and repose of a free State, shall not be abridged on account of such holiday falling upon a weekend, but shall in every such case devolve upon the Friday next preceding."

and then there's a huge controversy if "next" on "next preceding" means "before/close" or "after" because it's not clear anymore, and nobody can change the wording because that would make god angry.

"RBC verification code for sign-in. RBC will NEVER ask for this code. DO NOT share with anyone. Code: XXXXXX". Then proceed to ask me for the code.

It would be refreshing if American screenwriters were able to come up with conflicts and plots mechanics that don't involve guns or cars for once.

I called this out 10 months ago.

I want to announce I've just bought one my paintings for 1 Trillion Dollars using one of my games as exchange. I am, as of today, the best payed artist and game developer in the history of mankind.

A little codepen that showcases how we approximate CSS corner-shape using cubic beziers in blink. codepen.io/noamr-the-se... Hopefully @fserb.com will explain to me at some point how he got to this. Gemini could only guess 😆 Full blog post about corner-shape weird stuff when I become less lazy.

Ooooh is your internet broken. Did someone's immaterial web of financial speculation and surveillance turn out to have a failure point in material infrastructure

Playing around with how CSS corner-shape (squircles and friends) is going to end up looking like: noamr.github.io/squircle-tes... Fleshed out a lot of details, it's coming along! (Note that overlaps don't work yet in the proto but a lot of other things do) Thanks @smfr.bsky.social and @fserb.com 👏

softpower is more sustainable and stronger than hardpower. Giving up all your softpower so you can feel the hardpower is not only a sign of extreme insecurity but is deeply stupid.

Imagine you have a friend/partner/family member that loves you does everything to please you. You then decide that pulling a gun on them is the way to show to everyone that they really do what you want. You replaced a friend with a hostage. What did you gain? What happens next?

You may ask yourself what could be worse than giving up 80 years of US softpower because of a non-existent trade deficit? So here's your answer: giving it up to feed your narcissistic ego-trip of "strong negotiator". This was the biggest loss of power we have experienced in our lifetime. Uncanny.

The thing people don't get about the Infinite Monkey Theorem (a monkey with infinite time will eventually type Shakespeare's work), is that the reverse is also true. Given infinite monkeys, one of them will sit down and start typing Shakespeare right away. In fact, this has already happened.
