We were pretty close and it was so loud lol but when the phone camera tried to isolate the music it also isolated me singing along and I honestly couldn’t hear myself at all at the time lmao so I am not sure how many of these videos I’m going to post…I will think about it

But all millennials need to watch at least the first one!!! IT’S A MUST My husband has an amazing video of Bring Me To Life I can post later too. Their performances of the new songs were so good though. The whole thing was PERFECTION.

Today I’ve learned that not enough Bluesky users are tuned in to all of the Selling Sunset DRAMA and friends you missed out.

The Cut@thecut.com

Chrishell Stause announced that she and G Flip have separated after three years of marriage, adding that she doesn’t ‘have all the information or the reasons.’

Chrishell is your hero whether or not you know it yet! (your nemesis is not gflip either, it’s the Orange County real estate bros and bimbos…this news is just plain SAD)

Reddit’s algorithm is getting to me because why did I just type (then delete) a 500 word essay on why it IS COMPLETELY WRONG to suggest Emma Thompson would’ve been a better casting choice for middle aged Queen Elizabeth in The Crown than “emotionally repressed” and implicitly cold Olivia Coleman?😅

This one's up there but speaking from experience, the LP gets a few hundred or so people on the ballot nationwide every cycle, and one or more of them doing something bizarrely insane and/or tragic and/or criminal happens at... a higher rate than the general population, I'll put it that way.

"libertarian candidate for state senate in north carolina is currently in a shootout with the cops and live-tweeting his planned suicide", while not exactly surprising, is still a weird thing to read

I have not yet seen You Can See Everything, I will probably wait for streaming, but I do kind of think we should hold all proposed nonfiction media to higher standards. Evaluating for accuracy becomes nearly if not as important as evaluating for artistic impact if advertised that way.

This is also a huge issue with a lot of historical nonfiction where talented or bestselling authors get lauded as “historians” even when their output and analysis is not always reliable or historically accurate. They tell us a story about real people but the resulting work can still be fictional.

Anyway, I do kind of think if you claim to have made a documentary (even if by using a complex format) your film should be judged on how closely the narrative you created can be supported by verified facts and at least in part by how well or not the film communicates truth about the subject.

And having said (& meant) that, I'm tired of framing the protection & defense of any vulnerable group (trans ppl, immigrants, Muslims) as "the moment you compromise the rights of [GROUP], you compromise the rights of every citizen" because damn can we value & defend their humanity for its own sake?

Nevermind, I was correct. Bourne definitely IS a trilogy and those other two films are merely bad dreams that surely don’t exist in the real world.

Kate Glenn@findingtangle.bsky.social

Do you ever find out something that alters your perception of reality? Today it was discovering there are FIVE Bourne movies when I could have sworn it was only a trilogy.

There's nuance here about "how do we use platforms owned by the fascists". You *have to understand the political purpose of the platforms* in order to use them to subvert authoritarians. For the most part, Americans simply do not. Centrists (including DNC consultants) do not. Major media does not.

Kim Sherrell@web.kim

Key lessons from Brazil Amplify our people. Ignore the opposition. Use the tools owned by fascists to defeat the fascists? Meet the people where they are. May need to reconsider my staunch position of boycotting Meta for the reason. Thoughts?

This is why Bluesky is GOOD and perhaps even necessary (at least in terms of online mobilization/information sharing) and more Democratic/anti-fascist politicians should embrace the platform as is.

Rafa Sales Ross@rafiews.com

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

I’m late to this but it’s really despicable how much energy is being used to drag Meghan into her father’s crimes. It’s honestly been despicable for years the way the British press has latched on to the dysfunctional members of the Markle family to try to guilt and them all into a relationship.

If you are only a casual observer of the whole Sussex debacle you might not be fully aware how the British press has cynically used and made money off of all the estranged Markle family members, but it’s been a steady stream of ugly stories for YEARS all painting Meghan as the obvious villain.

There is a lot re: the way the British press has handled the Harry/Meghan story which is irresistible and downright disgusting but the way they targeted then tried to lionize Thomas Markle FOR OVER A DECADE as some poor victim of the evil Sussex crime family should be studied in ethics classes.

You’d hope to see more repentance out of this story line by A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE AND INSTITUTIONS instead of them all grasping for new ways to try to use Thomas Markle’s crimes against people who clearly were trying to protect their kids including by not showing their faces in public photos.
