I am attempting to walk 3 miles a day (minimum) every day in October. Today's walk was good. I am rubbish at these challenges. Wish me luck! (or better still, DM me asking how I'm doing!)

@chattr.online has reached over 200 users now, and it's easily going to reach 300 by the end of this month. I'm genuinely so excited to see where the platform I have built goes. If you're a Twitch user, then please check it out and sign up if you're interested!

What an utterly dreadful circuit Madring is. Processional racing, decided by a dodgy VSC decision. How, in this day of huge cars and efficienct aerodynamics, did that circuit design get past scrutineering? (I know the answer, it's €€€€€€€).

The more I work on my side project the more excited I am getting about it. It's my most ambitious to date, involves one of my passions, and has potential to be a lot of ̶w̶o̶r̶k̶ fun.

On this day (25th August) 1991: - Michael Schumacher's first F1 race, in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium - Linus Torvalds announces the Linux OS on the comp.os.minix newsgroup and I'm a fan of both!

Ever add a personal scratch file to .gitignore just to keep git status clean? 👀 Don't change the shared .gitignore for something only you need. Use .git/info/exclude instead. Same ignore syntax. Local to your clone. Never committed.

Complete this sentence. I own a ridiculous amount of: - Records (vinyl) - CD's - Gollancz Sci-Fi Hardback books - Socks

Laravel Installer v5.31 includes a new command: 𝚕𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚟𝚎𝚕 𝚙𝚊𝚌𝚔𝚊𝚐𝚎 This new command kicks off an interactive prompt that scaffolds out a Laravel package using our (new) (official) package skeleton: github.com/laravel/pack... Enjoy!

People think a project is "done" when it goes live but personally I think a project is done when someone logs in six months later and realizes they've forgotten what the old system even felt like 🎉

Anyone else in the UK sitting in a dark room, windows covered, lights on, and fans blowing, trying to block out the unrelenting sun, and get some work done? Just me?

The Prodigy released Firestarter 30 years ago. Keith Flint snarled the vocals. Flint is used to start fires. It has taken me way too long to see that particularly link.

Bluesky launched in February 2023 as an invite-only platform. As of June 2026, we have 45 million users. For reference, that's almost the population of Argentina. Thank you for being here with us 💙 Here’s to the next 45 million accounts.

When reading a detailed piece of content for a complex topic, something that's quite long, how do you prefer to consume it? One big long page, or broken up into chunks? I'm not convinced the article format is working, especially with the #multitenancy stuff I'm writing.

🔌 Coming very very soon to Oh Dear: a new ports check. 👀 You say which ports should be open, and we'll check those 💪 We'll also check if all other ports are closed

Busy weekend for motorsport fans, especially here in the UK. Sunday sees three rounds of the BTCC at Snetterton, the Indy 500, and the F1 Canadian Grand Prix. #BTCC #Indy500 #F1

Twitch peeps, there's a new social network in town to help you reach more potential viewers! It'll automatically post when you're live, let you share clips, and post your schedule natively! That website is called Chattr, and the link is on my profile! #twitch

A 20-second time penalty for Charles Leclerc for leaving the track several times on the last lap after damaging his Ferrari! Drops him from 6th to 8th, below Lewis Hamilton and Franco Colapinto.

I keep going back to mid 2010's Drum n Bass. I don't know why but there's something there that hits hard. Urbandawn,Fred V & Graphix, S.P.Y, Icicle, Etherwood, Logistics etc.

I agree, even though I've no idea what Twitch is all about 😉

All Twitch users should be using a social network made for them. That's exactly why I built Chattr. A place to share your streams and clips while growing your community!

I'm at Donington for the British Touring Car Championship and can't help but be impressed with the mowing. Great work by the Donington Grounds Team.

New Substack on something I've been thinking a lot about:

Deadly Passions, Terrible Joys@deadlypassions-pod.bsky.social

When a journalist's access relies on explicit approval from a sport, there is no free press. But the Max Verstappen incident in Japan should open the doors for a greater conversation about the state of #F1 media. deadlypassionsterriblejoys.substack.com/p/there-is-n...

I'm spending some time fully documenting the changes in Laravel version 13, 13.1 and 13.1.1 as a proof of concept. Ultimately, I'd like to provide detailed information about what is actually happened for each version. #laravel #opensource

So, Claude, and Gemini, both suggest I present clasinc symptoms of someone with ADHD. This surprised me. Not sure what the next step is. Do I bother with getting an official diagnosis (pretty difficult at 53 on NHS) or just read up on it and act accordingly? (No interest in medicating for it)

#F1 should take a leaf out of #Indycar’s book and experiment a little.  If the cancelled race issue happened for Indycar they’d do something like have a non-championship race somewhere with a $1 million prize for the winning driver and team.
