1. Not sure when a new, on-the-record rape allegation against a sitting president isn’t considered news — especially considering Trump was found liable by a jury in a similar case — but it was ignored by most mainstream media outlets

This weekend on #SundayGrind: Zombie 2 … or is it just Zombie? Leave it to 70’s Italian cinema to get complicated w/ titles. Join us for eye poking, shark slapping, goopy horror that only Lucio Fulci can dish out. Kicking off 7pm (after Magic) at @anyonecomics.bsky.social #Zombie #ComicShop

Yeah, sometimes I wear certain clothes for social media posts... Not my boss leather jacket, tho, certainly not... 😅 Anyway, the team that does these real fun new Frog n Toad books has a new one Tuesday AND we're hosting them Thursday November 5th. That is all.

i really do think that a successful impeachment and removal of hegseth is a live possibility if dems win the senate. he is a genuine disaster.

Laleh Khalili@lalehkhalili.bsky.social

Man, Hegseth's Department of War is even more buffoonish than everything else. Kinda amazed how the US military didn't just have some basic war plans they could activate. Their lack of preparedness is astonishing. meidasnews.com/news/so-much...

And as an aside - you should not doubt how fucking uncool D&D was in 1998 as a game, and how poisoned that particular well had been for a while. Baldur's Gate turned that around, and if you do want a road from D&D then to D&D now, it does strike me that Bioware's needs more credit than they get.

We come back to the idea of Execs who really don't understand art or why people make art, in any way, finding ways to absolutely annihilate those that do, in a death of a thousand cuts and then one big 400-person cut. It's heartbreaking. The western games industry kills a NIntendo every year.

I have called for the SoA to facilitate whistleblowing from staffers and authors alike, in the absence of voluntary transparency. I would also like publishers to explain why, if they believe GenAI use is either ethical and valuable, they aren't prepared to say how they're using it.

Escape Pod Comics reposted

The Society of Authors has withdrawn from the ill-conceived concession to the dark side that was the "ethical GenAI" charter because of the mass and vocal outrage of authors. Publishers need to be made afraid of this level of anger too.

Word that Spanish comics creator Sanjulián (Manuel Pérez Clemente) has left us, at age 85. Sanjulián was renowned for his covers, like this stunner. Sanjulián came to the US as one of Warren mag’s “Spanish Invasion” of the 1970s.

Sometimes you just get an idea and, even though your resources, skills, and time are not really up to fulfilling it... You do your best. I'm proud of doing it, even if it's super sloppy.

When you're chronically online AND you have a cool store with lots of fun little things on display... You make this video. 🤷

Look, this is dumb and badly made but I literally couldn't stop thinking about it once I had the idea. OK? OK?!

I don't think most Americans understand yet what a global laggard the USA is turning into here. Media instead told us that electric vehicles were a fad that didn't work.

John Bistline@bistline.bsky.social

Nepal passed 5% battery electric vehicle share in August 2021 and is at 75%. The U.S. passed 5% in October 2022 and is at 6%.

When you've been pounding away at something you need to write for ninety minutes and you skipped one part to at least get started on the last section before bed and your first sentence is, "Consider the fruit tree." It Is Time For Bed.

The last 2 days have been very encouraging. I don't know what other shops see but I see a very comic-hungry public that really want help navigating the complicated world of a medium they don't know well. Literally our whole mission statement, stolen from Friends of Nancy: Comics are for EVERYONE!

That gradual spike around 2018 before the pandemic explosion is when shonen jump went online for free.

Gen Z readers suddenly found comic shops over the last two years, says Griepp. Stories were the key driver. Manga sales were up across channels.
