This a brutal over simplification but my feeling with AI is that it is driving a shift from: Web developer -> Ideas developer The crux is no longer the ability to write code (but that does still matter). It is the ideas, the vision, the dreams, the concepts, the creativity.

One of the small frustrations I have with StampGood is that we don’t have real stamps on the postcards. I really hope when this project scales (or if it scales) I can transition to a process that allows for actual real stamps on the cards. It just isn’t possible yet though.

Oh the days where your out-of-date Wordpress site would just get spammed with junk comments and shady backlinks on it…simpler times.

✍️ Just published a new post about my most-anticipated CSS proposals from Interop 2027! If you’re not familiar, the Interop project is a collaboration between browsers to pick shared focus areas. There’s *so much* good stuff this year, it was hard to pick just 10!

How are folks building SEO content and marketing momentum without just dumping slop? Like real human made content takes time and is hard. I see all these SEO/marketing influencers making it seem easy to scale a project with AI slop.

Unrelated to anything I normally post on here; it was fun to watch the Calgary Flames win tonight! Devin Cooley’s postgame interview is worth a listen.

Today's project is finishing up support for @stampgood.com to support fundraising codes. Basically your sports team has a "code" and then a certain amount from each card sold goes back to that team/club. Win win.

StampGood is live and officially sending postcards in the mail! 🐌 💌 🎉 🎉 Yes real physical postcards. You can pick them up and hold them. Put them on your fridge. Stick it on your desk. Canada only right now. $5, printed and posted in Canada. www.stampgood.com

The story behind this project actually begins with a small community project I led in 2014/2015 after flooding in the Calgary area. We called them "gratitude postcards" and worked with a local school to place free postcards all around the community. That core idea always stuck with me.

Is there any word on whether Cloudflare will release a version of clef as a moderation specific LLM. Kind of like omni-moderation from OpenAI? Seems like an ideal fit for a model like that?

Has anyone tried clef-flash as a moderation model for content? Something like the omni-moderation model from OpenAI? Seems like an ideal model for moderation but nice to have something that is "moderation" specific like OpenAI's model?

StampGood took its first real orders this week!! 🎉🎉 I will do some kind of official launch post next week, but yeah it feels good to hit that milestone. Now I am working on the Christmas card ideas!

Maybe a controversial opinion but I have had better coding outcomes with Opus 5.5 over Sol 6.1. I tried them both quite a bit in the last week. Opus 5.5 just seems to write code that is more aligned with decisions I would make whereas Sol 6.1 seems to over engineer problems and I reel it back in.

I am enjoying biking on Rouvy more than I thought I would. "Rode" through the Azores this morning, gorgeous!

I made some minor design & content structure tweaks to the Practical Accessibility website (ahead of its 3rd anniversary). practical-accessibility.today One of the changes I made was creating a dedicated page for the many reviews & testimonials that the course has received over the past 3+ years.

Side quest of this summer has been learning to play D&D with my kids! Which has been both easier and better than I expected! #DadasDM

I'm building with @rwsdk.bsky.social! Worth checking out if you are evaluating react frameworks, I know it isn't the juggernauts that NextJs and Astro are but it is fund to be working in a framework where you have direct access to the dev team and a smaller, more nimble, product!

Working to figure out marketing and customer acquisition ideas is new territory for me. But made some small progress in this today!

What do Canadian apps/services do about serving customers in Quebec and meeting their consumer protection and french language rules?? Any first hand experience with navigating that?

Chased down a software bug related to network latency today that I assumed was me (and my bad code), turns out if was a regression somewhere in my npm packages. This is what I get for yolo updating my package.json versions!

I am working on an idea to increase social connection using actual mail. Mail delivered to your real physical mailbox that you can touch, hold and read. Analog. Real. Personal. Snails. 🐌💌

Alright I am gonna try this social media thing again because I am excited about an idea I am hacking on. The basic premise is to increase social connection and raise money for charity at the same time. Using snail mail. Like real actual mail that comes to a physical mailbox. Old school and analog.
