I wish I could point to a spot where A.R. is exaggerating. I really do.

In his (rather dubious) defense, Republican voters have shown him again and again that they love bigotry more than the constitution, the country, the troops, their jobs, drinking water, affordable food, their dignity, their own families, and even their own lives.

In another forum people were once debating what the first line of this song is. (I'm paraphrasing) Literally Boy George himself: It's "Desert loving in your eyes all the way" Guy: Nah, I don't think so. Boy George: I'm the guy who wrote and sang it. I think I'd know. Guy: Agree to disagree, bro.

Name a pop song from before 1989.

I think it was Star Wars (1977), but maybe not. My mom took my siblings to see it right away, but did not take me because she wanted to see it first, thought it might be too much for me (I was 4). I know I did see it in the theater, and I'm pretty sure it was on the initial release, but it might...

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

have been on a re-release, which would mean that the first film I saw at the cinema is The Cat From Outer Space (1978). What sticks with me from that night is that I was taken to that movie by my 17yo cousin. She lived ~50 miles away from us and I have absolutely no memory or clue of...

would have led to her taking just me - no siblings, neither of our parents - to a movie near her, not near me. That, and she took me to McDonald's either before or after. I didn't get to McDonald's much so that was a big night for li'l me.

Stay safe in the storm, everyone. And remember: it’s Austen like Jane, not Austin like Steve. Genteel but incisively damaging rather than bionically bludgeoning.

Whenever a Somali person is involved in a crime, "Somali" is the lead in the story. When a Somali man is a hero, the news media says "Good Samaritan," "bystander," or "Minnesota man." Heaven forbid anything gets in the way of the news media's narrative. kstp.com/kstp-news/to...

i firmly believe in rewarding yourself with small, tangible treats (a nice spice mix! a good smelling tea! a comfy throw blanket!) for any achievements including continuing to be alive for another day

Are you a word nerd? Allow me to recommend stuff Jess writes (or says, on YouTube's Words Unraveled with @robwords.com).

My next book, INTO THE WORDS: AN ETYMOLOGIST'S FIELD GUIDE TO PLANTS, ANIMALS, AND NATURE, arrives Nov. 3! If you're a leaf peeper, a mushroom admirer, a moss petter; if you have a favorite funny bird name; if "touch grass" speaks to you, but you enjoy a cozy reading nook, this book is for you.

If the only time you say "I want to stay out of politics" is when the Republicans are deeply unpopular and are on the wrong side of polling, you're already engaging in politics.

I don’t even remember how movies used to show that someone was a douche before you could just have them vape once.

Listen to Jeri. Vote! Fun fact: You don't have to vote in every race on your ballot if you're not familiar with them all. It's perfectly OK for you to vote in... IDK, let's say 5 of 8.

Enough is enough. We HAVE TO VOTE. ALL OF US...in numbers too big to rig. The best way to do this is by getting your vote in EARLY! No Kings is coming together again TOMORROW, Sat Oct 17, this time to make sure every eligible voter is ready to make their voice heard. @nkcoalition.bsky.social
