in the last 5 months i have spent more time refuting claims made by claude about networking that software engineers insist i look into than actually doing network engineering.

for an engineer like me who is maximally using Sonnet, and hasn't yet switched to a local model, it's about $6k a month, or $72k a year. it is a very very hefty fraction of the salary, & is going to be pretty unaffordable to orgs that don't see 2x+ productivity on highly-paid employees.

Today in funny router bugs: Junos will resolve ASCII characters to their decimal value in an as-path regex: 'show route aspath-regex .*;' will show you all prefixes/paths originated from AS59, as ; is 59 in the ASCII table.

Both the New York Times and Washington Post obituaries for Jimmy Carter have joint bylines including writers who have been dead for years. The Guardian ran an obit with a single byline—and yes, the writer has been dead since 2021.
