A rumor that OM System will release a rangefinder-type camera soon. Does OM System see their OM-3 as akin to the Fujifilm X-T5, and this as their equivalent to the Fujifilm X-E5? Which is selling like hotcakes. If it comes out in black, I'm on board. #OMSystem #micro4/3 #mft #fujifilm #x-e5

Can someone who's an expert in Web Components and CEM help me make sense of these download numbers? AFAIK web-component-analyzer is the old one, and @custom-elements-manifest/analyzer is the new one, but the old one is taking off, even with no new releases for 3 years? npmx.dev/compare?pack...

My previous post was about actual camera options. What would I really like? 1. Lumix GX10 (a ILC L10) 2. OM System OM-3 in Black! 3. Sony A7C III (with a flip-up screen) A black OM-3, despite a flip-out screen, says how much I hate the silver camera trend. #mft #camera #photography

Panasonic has discontinued a string of its best Lumix G lenses. We have 2 options: 1. A new series of lenses. 2. Panasonic is moving away from Micro Four Thirds cameras with interchangeable lenses. The lack of clarity either way is poor form on Panasonic's part. Time to switch. #lumix #mft

Went for a walk on my day off. Took my GX9 with a 20mm (equivalent to 40mm on full frame cameras). It was a bit gloomy, so perfect for some black and white photos. #microfourthirds #photos #b&w

If you want to learn all about web components from a human then check this out: Web Components Demystified online course is $10 this week (it'll go back to the usual $25 deal after that). It's 8 hours of video lessons, or 4 if you listen at 2x, which wouldn't offend me at all. Use the code Just10.

aww!! this site legitimately shaped my career. around 2005, I decided responsive CSS-based layouts were the future of web design and weaned myself off of tabular layouts thanks to Zen Garden's examples 🫶

Most framework benchmarks are TodoMVC. Can Litro keep up with Next.js & Nuxt on a real app? We built the same HN clone across 3 full-stack frameworks & 5 client libraries (React, Vue, Lit, FAST, Elena). litro.dev/blog/five-hn... #webcomponents #webperf #nitro #nextjs #nuxt

Custom Elements, Custom Properties, and Custom State together provide a very powerful way to provide customizable styling without going through the JavaScript layer. #css #webcomponents #designsystems

I’m excited to share a new project from Adobe Spectrum Web Eng that tracks support for #CSS features within and across the shadow DOM. The goal is to provide visibility into feature parity and outstanding issues. We hope you find it useful - open to contributions! shadow-dom-css.adobe.com

there ARE a couple really big gotchas to be aware of, nice recap from @chriscoyier.net here

The Big Gotcha of Anchor Positioning As it stands, you have to think about the layout engine and whether an element is "fully laid out" before an anchor is allowed to apply to it. Boooooo.

Made chicken rice for lunch. Turned out great. However, afterwards I decided to add some chilli crisp. Do I get pulled in front of a rice abuse tribunal?

Do you want a dynamic, responsive navigation? What if you want zero config, no DOM manipulation, no attributes popping up? Well, slot assignment, popovers, and anchor positioning, you can get it done. Okay, that's a lot. But, doable. #CSS #webcomponents #customelements codepen.io/dutchcelt/fu...

Understanding the fundamentals of CSS layout When devs say that CSS is hard, they're usually talking about CSS layout. What often gets omitted is that developers are assumed to understand and effectively use CSS without being taught how it works in the first place. polypane.app/blog/underst...

If you are reducing your IT costs through deskilling front-end you should put a Design System on the top of your shopping list. Deskilling doesn't mean you can do without front-end, it means being more effective and efficient by hiring the people you need and get the most out of that investment.

I don’t really watch movies anymore. Even from streaming services. Maybe one or two a year. However, I recently went to see the Danish movie The Last Viking at our local art house cinema. That was fun. The future of cinema may be only in this niche market.
