At first I thought this was satire, because this is such a sadly amusing expression of just how bankrupt Liberalism and Liberals are at this juncture. Let's lean into a new Cold War? The Cold War gave us all the nice things? No, no no no no. None of this is correct, this is twisted. it's Delusional.

Liberal Currents@liberalcurrents.com

“A 2028 Democratic candidate ought to lean into our rivalry with China not just because the international system is in shambles, and Republicans are to blame. The pressure of the first Cold War was successfully channeled into long needed reforms at home” www.liberalcurrents.com/the-next-dem...

Polymarket got the Brazilian election completely wrong. The glorified gambling platform had Flavio Bolsonaro's odds at over 80% all the way up to the day voting took place. Lula ended up with 51.8% of the vote. futurism.com/future-socie...

Not appreciating the narrative suggesting the war isn't working bc of their incompetence. Let's be clear: it is also a demonstration of incompetence for liberals to think they could do better. Remember: Biden's main guys for the region McGurk and Hochstein praised the invasion, called it necessary.

The media is devoted to the status quo. Too often thinking on Napoleon's reconquest of France. It goes from smug 'cannibal' and 'Corsican Ogre' at the start of the advance, to a sober 'Bonaparte' then, reluctantly, 'Napoleon'; then, as he closes on Paris: 'Emperor' and 'His Imperial Royal Majesty'.

The problem with the 2000s "Idiocracy" narrative is that it punches down at the obedient rubes on the bottom, and not the gentleman Hog's club at the top that encouraged it, and shaped institutions to promote this sociopathic, cutthroat, climber culture that produced them. The true trickle-down.

Since I regularly piss off YIMBYs, I want to make sure its clear that I completely agree with @maxdubler.com. I don't believe in so-called "inclusionary" zoning. Directly provision housing and have standardized, simple rules for private development. You have to keep focus on the big picture.

Boston’s chief planner is a true believer in the San Francisco model, in which you make it impossible to profitably build apartments by-right so developers are forced into a politicized discretionary negotiation with the city, which relaxes the rules in exchange for below-market units.
