Republicans have been attacking Abdul El-Sayed by claiming that he wants to promote sharia law. But nobody asks his opponent, Republican Mike Rogers, why he's part of a party where leaders seem so willing to impose their faith on society. www.thebulwark.com/p/gop-closes...
The "Blue Wall" has become an increasingly precarious element of Democratic presidential campaigning. This year’s races could offer clues about where 2028 candidates could build additional paths to 270. www.thebulwark.com/p/what-a-blo...

This is legit wild. One of the Trumpiest GOP kooks we’ve had holding high office here in Texas makes an absolute spot-on, beautiful, non-partisan call for government transparency against the governor’s attempt to hide his emails with Elon Musk.
Since so many missed it, let me share it without comment:
Jennifer Shuford, the CDC's deputy director and chief medical officer, who "was hired in April as part of a new four-person leadership team" to run the CDC "and restore confidence in the agency" will be leaving after just six months on the job. 👀 wapo.st/4zbhMof
Voters don’t have to confess they were conned to turn against Trump. They can simply decide he hasn’t done the job: "You don't have to say 'I was foolish for believing them.' You could just say 'I'm going to fire you and hire the next guy.'" The new @gtconway.bsky.social show:
"Buckle up, buttercup. There are no easy answers here. The downside risk is pretty rough. But the upside outcome? You’re gonna need a cigarette for what I’m calling the HULK SMASH Kaiju Tsunami..."👇

I honestly was not sure if this was a new or recycled allegation, which says a lot about our President.
Evidence "shows that Trump lied about kicking Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club," according to a new report from the House Judiciary Dem staff. The report also reveals for the first time Beatrice Keul's account of allegedly having been raped by Trump. democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Behind the right-wing Old Glory Club’s embarrassing public breakup is a consequential question: How much extremism can members advertise while building influence inside the Republican party? www.thebulwark.com/p/right-wing...

A #BlueskyLullaby for tonight: A decade ago, Daniel Barenboim put out an album of himself just having a blast with his new piano that he helped design. I'm not convinced that the instrument sounds great on all the tracks, but for this famous sonata by Scarlatti, it shines. See you around.

NEW: Iowa. Ohio. Texas. Kansas. Democrats see opportunities this November in states Trump won three times. Whether those openings carry over to 2028 depends partly on what the party builds now. www.thebulwark.com/p/what-a-blo...
The Amy Acton smear is appalling. So is the Trump administration's quieter work of cutting victim services, sidelining child exploitation investigations, and weakening protections against sexual abuse.👇
NEW: Let's put into context Trump's embrace of the smearing of Amy Acton: It fits his administration's broader record of abandoning the victims of sexual abuse—and shielding their predators. www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-crue...
From Michigan attack ads to AI-generated scenes of a Muslim “takeover,” Republicans are betting that fear of Islam can win votes. The midterms will test that calculation. www.thebulwark.com/p/gop-closes...
We showed Vivek Ramaswamy's vile ad smearing Amy Acton to Ohioans who had voted for Trump. We wanted to know if they thought it was basically fine or if they thought Ramaswamy had gone too far. Here's what they told us: www.thebulwark.com/p/how-ohio-t...

Yeah, this man should not be allowed to practice law, and any failure to take away his ability to practice law after all of this would be a part of the end of the rule of law in America.
Blanche on CBS says his suit against Alaska is "asking the court to step in where the Alaska Supreme Court didn't, which is to look at federal law and if necessary to allow a process for Alaska to decide who should be certified as the winner." (So, the voters won't get to decide. Got it.)

A #BlueskyLullaby for tonight: Tonight I got to see 'The Score,' a stageplay now at D.C.'s Shakespeare Theatre with Brian Cox playing Johann Sebastian Bach. A major plot point involves a musical theme that Bach set to both a three-voice fugue and—in this piece—a six-voice (!) fugue. See you around.

I don’t think Elon actually knows what “live by the sword, die by the sword” means. He just keeps posting it.
Three times in the past two days, Elon Musk tweeted out "Live by the sword, die by the sword." He was responding to suggestions that he and his business interests will soon be facing a lot more scrutiny. Two of his three tweets were in response to us at The Bulwark.

“One of the first orders of business of the next Congress will be the impeachment of Hegseth and his removal from office.” Breaking Ike’s globe probably won’t be among the articles of impeachment. But it sure as hell is an apt metaphor. www.thebulwark.com/p/everything...
