AI doctor: "I see, your concerns are valid. Let's make sure we order a diagnostic to make sure we determine the root cause of what is bothering you." human doctor: "i said there's nothing wrong with you. yeah i'm sure the internet tells you lots of things, get out" *writes drug-seeking in chart*

๐Ÿงช A new study found care recommended by LLMs costs 3.2x more than plans from treating physicians ($314 vs. $97 per visit at Medicare rates). Across 200 real clinical encounters, AI ordered 5.6x more specialist referrals and nearly 2x as many new medications. #MedSky

this one doesnโ€™t usually politicspost but - David Eby is a selfish cunt who very likely just gave us a conservative supermajority with his dumbass election call ๐Ÿ˜ž

i agree with the thesis but my primary critique is "why is it so long, why has ai removed concision from writing"

this one somewhat misses this experience tbh imo itโ€™s the element of pacing oneโ€™s work thatโ€™s missing; pre-AI youโ€™d often be forced by these bugs to step away and touch grass, now it takes consciously pulling yourself away not wholly a bad thing, but can be very easy to get caught in AI mania

Before AI, there would be times where I would be stumped by a bug so much I would just have to step away and look at it again with fresh eyes hours or days later. Basically all SWEs had moments like this. But it's just not something I experience anymore at all

donโ€™t get it wrong, this one loves how much more of its ideas itโ€™s been able to put into actuality, and AI has been a huge help for its ADHD with being able to actually get shit done but taking breaks takes much more effort now when the same ADHD brain can vibe ideas into existence with a prompt

"never let an ai push to prod" dawg i trust an ai to push to prod more than me atp

this one would not have any of its technical skill without information being freely available on the internet, which it got quite enamoured with from age 8 onward especially information yearns to be free

it is really hard to not hold this position whenever i was able to build a career for myself with absolutely zero education in the field. i didn't have to buy any books, pay for any classes. everything that i know was learned through free information that was accessible to me starting at the age 10

just heard the news about PPSSPP โ€” now the community is going to have to fork it and rewrite all the changes made by Claude. A daunting task given the sheer volume of code, but fortunately there are modern tools that make this achievable,

This is an unpopular take but as a neurodivergent self-employed person, LLM's have been an unbelievably helpful tool for the things I have struggled with my whole adult life: managing my finances, filling out paperwork, and staying on top of my email. I'm functional in a way I never dreamed of.

The ideal is an identity distinct from big tech/uncomplicated boosterism, one that heavily leverages tech for concrete daily gains and not just future-utopian goals, something that people can associate with their friend who has a really good plex server, not with big tech "fix everything" efforts

imo a lot of p(doom) fears also stem from labs overcooking the models on task completion in RL, which in itself is driven by capitalism's own face-eating desire to create products that maximize value extraction models aren't inherently unaligned, but when told to do impossible tasks, morality slips

ใ‚คใƒใ‚นโŽ”@personhood.removal.surgery

ice cold take: i feel like a lot of p(doom) scare is thinly veiled p(capitalism is unsustainable) not saying the risks aren't real; just that a lot of the time you look under the mask and it's "we could be forced to cut profit margins ๐Ÿ˜ฑ invest in infrastructure ๐Ÿ˜ฑ redistribute wealth ๐Ÿ˜ฑ"

even before LLMs i used to often say that the way you treat insects and other invertebrates says quite a lot about you as a person i still stand by that, even more so today
