Dave LaMacchia

a fantastic eulogy for one of the best

Most knew him as Checkov but his Bester was an incredible (mostly) villain in B5

the framing of the company as “the maker of the claude chatbot” is very much missing the point

Ooooo D&D Gamma World Twilight 2000 Paranoia Torg

In honor of this year’s @roguelike.club here’s a talk from a few years ago, one of my all time favorites: how to prototype games in google sheets. It’s worth it youtu.be/hdhKErNIYgE?...

Some cool visualizations about what the skyline might look like under new regulations (though estimates it says are 10% of the cap will be achieved over many decades) www.sfchronicle.com/projects/202...

Castro & Market, 1958 A view from the platform entering the Twin Peaks tunnel. A Muni M-line streetcar about to cross the intersection, traffic all around and passenger waiting, just a nice dynamic shot. I do a lot of repetitive streetcar shots, but this one just kind speaks. #sfmemory #sfhistory

So true (and really sad)

Soul Coughing and Morphine. Mark Sandman tragically passed away shortly before the show date. 😭 The world lost such a talented person. I still have my tickets.

guess this is finally what’s getting me to switch to apple maps (which has not made this idiotic change)

Accidentally spilled a lot of water on one of my favorite posters. Trying to recover it but I definitely feel like an idiot. I had it on the floor preparing to hang it, too 😡

saw the breeders at the castro. excellent show, plus I ran into a friend I was in a band with a long time ago. It’s hard to believe how much time has passed.

The recent version of Bluesky now allows me to hide reposts while not fully muting an account, a feature we had at Twitter that I really missed here. Thanks @bsky.app team! As a result, I can follow more accounts that I had to put in lists due to volume or mute entirely

"The Emperor is a fan of Flock, and we must continue utilizing Flock technologies so that we can follow and surveil the rebel scum as they move from playground to playground... They are following children in parks and gymnasiums, and we need this. I need this so I can stalk my ex-girlfriend."

have been thinking a bit how when I was a kid the notion of screen time didn’t exist, but then again screens were not designed to be horribly addictive

My friend William's new pinball museum in Chicago officially opened and got a 5-star rating from Time Out. Check it out if you're in the area www.timeout.com/chicago/news...

incredibly sad. i saw him play several times, a fantastic performer and song writer

Xcode 27.0 beta 3 added updates to XCUIAutomation, so that you can now drive VoiceOver in the simulator. You've always had to test VoiceOver focus and navigation issues on device and there was no way to automate it: now you can! Just confirmed this all works in the simulator. Huge for a11y.

waiting to find out that Jimothy also enjoys milkshakes

mmm…weasel riding a woodpecker seems like it should be a metaphor for something

I’m pretty disappointed to learn that along with the Cursor acquisition SpaceX also acquired Graphite, which was useful.

I found a check in my garden today in perfect condition belonging to someone on my street…dated June 4th, 1981. Weird!

Stage 1 of the Tour de France — what a great start!! Love this every year 🚲🚲🚲

Just a reminder: We do not accept AI music submissions (e.g. Suno, etc) as SomaFM is a human-centered radio network. We especially hate AI agents repeatedly submitting AI music to us. If you're a developer, don't do this.
