I learned HTML from a book I got from CompUSA in the 90's. My first websites were written in Notepad and uploaded with WS_FTP. My parents got me a digital scanner for my birthday one year (the kind you had to slowly roll over a picture by hand) so I could upload my own images. Hell of a time.
