I feel bad because I really liked Alon Leichman. Coors Field is bugger.

I was so excited by the Leichman hire, and it's unfortunate that he takes the fall for bad personnel. But results matter and the staff didn't grow in the way the hitting did, so the replacement hire will be quite interesting.

After the trade deadline on Aug. 3, the Rockies’ starters posted a roughly 7.00 ERA. Couple that with the failed pitch-calling experiment and it became enough for the Rockies to move on.

The Colorado Rockies' starting pitching problem has long been the central riddle for the Rockies to solve. The enigma has been exacerbated amid the Rockies’ recent nadir, as the club has endured four straight seasons with 100-plus losses.

When the Rockies are once again a playoff team in the distant future, we will be able to say we were here. They will know we have earned it.
