#Rockies Jack O’Dowd, undrafted and playing independent league baseball less than a year ago, leads the Arizona Fall League with 5 home runs. The 26-year-old C/1B is also 1st in SLG (.825), 2nd in OPS (1.206) and tied for 3rd in RBI (12).

It was on this date in 2007 that the Colorado Rockies made their first World Series appearance. The starting lineup: CF Willy Taveras 2B Kazuo Matsui LF Matt Holliday 1B Todd Helton 3B Garrett Atkins RF Brad Hawpe SS Troy Tulowitzki C Yorvit Torrealba DH Ryan Spilborghs

Sam Hilliard hit .304 with 44 home runs and 139 RBI this season in Korea and led the KT Wiz to a 1st-place finish. Hilliard, an MVP candidate, became the first foreign hitter with 40+ HR and 120+ RBI in their debut KBO season. In seven MLB campaigns, Hilliard hit 44 homers, albeit in 332 games.

On this date in 1992, ground is broken on the future site of Coors Field. One overlooked detail of the Rockies ballpark is on the corner of Blake & 22nd. This building, home to The Sandlot Brewery, was first erected in 1913, one year after Fenway Park and one year before Wrigley Field.

The Milwaukee Brewers look like a force to win their 1st ever ring. However, they’ll have 8 days - 7 days between games - before the start of the 2026 World Series. Gotta wonder if Pat Murphy is calling those from the 2007 Colorado Rockies who had 8 off-days, then got swept.

Ding-Dong! The Dodgers Are Dead! The Milwaukee Brewers win Game 4 in Los Angeles for a clean sweep of the NLCS. MLB’s 19th-highest payroll defeats the team that’s 1st. Meanwhile in the ALCS, it’s no. 25 vs no. 30. Maybe baseball isn’t broken after all.

Ryan Vilade has the Yankees on the brink of elimination with an opposite field home run in the Bronx. Vilade’s first postseason homer with the Rays is one more than he ever hit with the Colorado Rockies in the regular season.

It’s been 8 years since the Colorado Rockies were at the forefront of the sports world. The 2018 NL Wild Card Game Kyle Freeland with 6.2 shutout innings, Tony Wolters delivers the 13th inning game-winning RBI and Scott Oberg K’s four-straight to sink the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Happy Arbitration Projections Day, courtesy of @mlbtraderumors #Rockies have six this offseason, including two-time All-Star Hunter Goodman. A salary of $6.2MM for Goody would best $5MM salaries for Nolan Arenado & Trevor Story for a first time arb-eligible year with Colorado.

Peter Lambert’s outing for the Astros in Game 2 (3 IP, 2 R) got me thinking… Since the last postseason appearance the #Rockies in 2018, how many former Colorado pitchers - drafted and developed by COL - have started a playoff game? Answer: 1 Tyler Anderson, 2022 with LAD

#Rockies TJ Rumfield is the first rookie in 100 years since Walter “Cuckoo” Christensen in 1926 to lead his league in OBP. Rumfield’s .390 OBP is tops in the National League. You may have heard of the first rookie to ever accomplish that: Shoeless Joe Jackson (1911).

The Colorado Rockies finish with a 58-104 record, second worst in franchise history to only the 119 losses in 2025. The 223 losses over the past two years is tied for second-most in consecutive seasons and tied for most by a non-expansion franchise.

#Rockies pitching may be such a hot mess that 100 losses in 2027 could be unavoidable, but the offense has had great success. Colorado has five hitters with at least 1.5 fWAR (McCarthy, Rumfield, Goodman, Karros Carrigg) for the first time since 2018 (Arenado, Story, Blackmon, LeMahieu, CGonzález).

#Rockies TJ Rumfield may become the first rookie to lead his league in on-base percentage in 100 years. His .390 OBP is second in the NL behind Jake Bauers (.00038 in OBP to be exact). Bauers starts for Milwaukee today. The others: Shoeless Joe Jackson 1911 Cuckoo Christensen 1926

#Rockies TJ Rumfield has been removed from the game following a single in his 1st AB, giving him a .300 batting average. Rumfield will become the 15th rookie in baseball history to bat .300 with at least 155 games played. Some others: Albert Pujols, Ichiro Suzuki, Derek Jeter and Tony Oliva.

Say what you will about the win-loss record, but the Colorado Rockies do a great job of fan service. The final walk, a tradition that dates back to Mile High Stadium in 1993 with original manager Don Baylor.

Manager Warren Schaeffer is grateful for the over 2.2 million fans who have come out to support the #Rockies during the 2026 season: “(You) support us in the down times and you’ll be with us in the good times when they come.”

Rockies lose their 100th game. Fourth season in a row. Kyle Freeland quite possibly pitches in his final game at home for Colorado. Nolan Arenado stars for the Diamondbacks going 3-for-5 with a homer. There are a lot of interesting narratives here to unpack.

That’s all for Kyle Freeland in what very well may be his final start for the #Rockies after 10 seasons in the purple pinstripes: 3 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 2 K Freeland, drafted by Colorado in 2014, will be a free agent at season’s end for the first time as a professional.

Something to smile about at the end of another 100-loss #Rockies season: TJ Rumfield could become the fourth rookie since 2000 to qualify for the batting title while hitting .300+ with a .390+ OBP. The other three won the Rookie of the Year: Mike Trout, 2012 Chris Coghlan, 2009 Albert Pujols, 2001

Seven-game losing streak for #Rockies who have now lost 10 in a row away from Colorado following an 8-1 loss to Detroit. Gabriel Hughes falls to 0-8 with a 6.37 ERA. Next up: back to Denver with a four-game set against the Padres who have won six-straight and are the 3rd NL Wild Card.

Rough loss for the #Rockies who 37 games below .500 and extend their losing streak to six games. Colorado was up 7-4 with six outs to go before seven consecutive Tigers reach base safely against Jaden Hill and Jordan Romano as Detroit scores 7 in the bottom of the eighth.

The Colorado Rockies were 45-67 on August 3. On pace to avoid 100 losses for the fourth-straight season entering the final day of the trade deadline, they have since cratered. Colorado is 10-24 since then and will now need to play .500 ball (8-8) in order to avoid more dubious history.

Eric Karros played 14 years in the Majors and played just one game at Yankee Stadium (II) at the age of 36. He was a pinch hitter and grounded out. #Rockies Kyle Karros, age 24, has three games at Yankee Stadium (III), including a 431 ft solo home run.

#Rockies lose 6-1 to the Yankees. drop to 55-90. Fifth-consecutive season losing 90+. Before this stretch began in 2022, Colorado had never lost 90+ more than two years in a row. Rox need 8 wins over final 17 games to avoid 100 losses. They’ve done that 22% of the time in 2026.

#Rockies Hunter Goodman has an opposite field home run in his first game at Yankee Stadium. In the 9th inning, no less. Goodman’s 37th homer extends his MLB lead for most on the road (22) this season.

Adael Amador has himself a 385 ft foot home run against AL Cy Young contender Cam Schlittler. Amador’s first homer at Yankee Stadium is more than #Rockies greats Trevor Story and Carlos González hit in the Bronx combined.

#Rockies activate 3B Kyle Karros from the concussion IL ahead of a three-game set in the Bronx. IF/OF Ryan Ritter is optioned back to Triple-A Albuquerque. *Oh yeah, Yankees activate Aaron Judge from the 60-day IL. That might be important in this series.

Wild bottom of the sixth inning. #Rockies score five runs and take a 6-5 lead over the Cardinals. Go-ahead run comes on a sac bunt from Zac Veen that scores Troy Johnston on a play at the plate. "I'm out," Johnston said. St. Louis has no challenges, so Colorado gets a gift.

Brett Sullivan with the walk-off win for the #Rockies, the first of his career. Good for him. Need evidence of his leadership for Colorado: The first five to greet Sullivan are all rookies: Veen, Carrigg, Frasso, Hughes and Castaño.

“The greatest home run robbery, game-ending catch you'll see in your life.” In case you turned in early because of the nearly 2-hour rain delay, #Rockies Jake McCarthy’s would-be walk-off was erased by the Orioles’ Colton Cowser. “Like a dang knife to the heart,” Warren Schaeffer said post-game.

Since July 10, #Rockies Tanner Gordon has made nine appearances, the last three of which have been starts. Gordon has an impressive 3.32 ERA (16 ER, 43.1 IP) with a 26-to-5 strikeouts to walks during that span.

Todd Helton finished 2nd in NL Rookie of the Year Award voting in 1998 at age 24. With 27 games remaining for the #Rockies this season, 26-year-old TJ Rumfield has the opportunity to put together one the finest rookie campaigns in franchise history.

TJ Rumfield recorded 4 walks on Thursday, plus a base hit in his only at-bat. Rumfield is just the 14th player in #Rockies history to draw at least four base on balls. First since 2020 and first on the road since Todd Helton in 2009 (also at Washington).

It’s 17 consecutive games allowing a home run, a #Rockies record. The eight-game losing streak at home is tied for second-longest in team history. Colorado (50-79, .388) is still on pace to avoid 100 losses, but barely (63-99). Eighth-hardest strength of schedule remaining.
