He/Him
28mm wargaming, P&P RPG, old stones (like, really old), tech (but, you know, the good bits), radical politics ("radical" like every person deserves to live), folklore, etymology.
Other stuff too...
What features of narrative wargaming in skirmish games do people enjoy?
This is specifically for a one-day mini campaign for a post apoc Sci-fi hack of Forbidden Psalm but don't let game setting or rules get in the way... I'm looking to be inspired and steal widely.
This is all disgusting.
I've had people accuse me of using AI when I do shit like use an em-dash. I struggle to avoid yelling but HUNDREDS OF ARTICLES AND AT LEAST TWO BOOKS I WROTE have been scraped by OpenAI.
I'm part of why your chatbots write the way they do.
They're copying me.
I wish an airstrike on a data centre could kill the Russian botnet but, as anyone who says anything critical of Putin finds out, they'll still jump on you in minutes.
My job in 2019: "Make porn sites work better, so adults who pay money to view porn will want to pay money to view porn."
My Job in 2026: "Draft a compliance plan for Eastwestern Tennabamaho's new 'porn sites confirm viewer's blood type every 10 seconds' law, so Visa doesn't drone-strike my house"
Does my Speak-n-Spell feel pain when I type O-U-C-H?
The jury is out.
Philosophers and neuroscientists say that's fucking stupid, but I called a guy from the Center for Pretending that Household Electronics Are Sentient and he said there's no way to know for sure.
It's really refreshing seeing shitey normal working class life depicted like this in a game, and a Silent Hill game no less. Pebble-dashed council flats, three-bar fires, Post Office counters, concrete shopping precincts. This must be how posh people felt playing Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.
1741 linguistic map of Europe shows the Lord's Prayer in the local language. There is a lot going on here. Fun to read through for the linguistically-minded... Source: buff.ly/38Yidbn
I find it funny when people looking to monetise Bluesky will post stuff like "remember to share, likes don't do anything other than show the poster you liked their post".
Imagine being so algorithm-brained that you forgot what liking meant.
What is consciousness? What is sentience? These are philosophical question that have been asked since the dawn of time. How lucky we are to live in a time where 7 people in Northern California realised the answer is “being able to predict the most statistically significant next word in a sentence”
It's not the ~worst~ thing tech bros have done, but I hate how they have absolutely killed any enthusiasm I've ever had for robots
I should ~love~ little metal guys and instead I now roll my eyes and go "ugh" every time I see one because I know it'll be bringing some new terrible bullshit
This trade war bullshit makes it clear that the US's global overreach needs to be dismantled. No better time to do it now when the nation effectively doesn't have a government.
Farage only gets twice as many votes as the joke candidate in an essentially uncontested election.
Well that joke's out of the way; back to the enquiries into Farage's many crimes.
At least it made reform look ridiculous.
Why is the debate in the UK regarding wildfires about disposable BBQ's and NOT CLIMATE CHANGE!
I feel like I'm going insane, we all know what the real issues are here, we have the solutions. Yet we're putting the profits of like six people above everything else.
'Games development' and 'games business' are two seperate things. The sickness lies in the business side. And it is catastrophically sick. In all meanings of the word.
A reminder that, in June, Reform reinstated Sunderland councillor Glenn Gibbins, a man who suggested Nigerians should be melted down and used to fill potholes. Nigel Farage did not report this to the police, did not demand he face legal consequences, and still welcomes him in his party.
The corporate LLM AI bubble is terrible for people who like AI. AI technology, including LLMs, is great, it's just used by idiots to sell fantasies to other idiots at the moment.
Public Domain Art is the lifeblood of small tabletop rpgs, but it can be a nightmare trying to find the right art and license.
This week, I’ve re-uploaded my old list from 2020 (with updates) of public domain websites. That's 500,000+ public domain paintings, photos, maps, and film.

A conversation between a client and an engineer that is hypothetical for legal and contractual reasons:
C: "make it do A"
E: "A not B?"
C: "Yup, A is our policy"
*time passes*
E: "Here you go. It does A."
C: "Why doesn't it do B?"
E: "Because you asked for A"
C: "Why did I tell you that?"
Congratulations to @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social on somehow making Theresa May’s Conservative Party the most socially progressive government of the last decade, I suppose. Really impressive to be that fucking ghoulish a person.

A long time ago Natwest won me as a customer when a lot of banks were outsourcing their phone support. Natwest said you could call our branches or a UK based contact centre.
What I need is a service provider to go "do you miss the human connection? Call our human contact centre today".
