80% of Bluesky users for some reason: this headline/subheadline communicates the point that Trump is lying, without literally using the words "Trump is Lying"?? But then how will the unwashed masses understand that Trump is lying??!!??

Local news in Louisiana. @wwltv-mirror.bsky.social www.wwltv.com/article/news...

I get why people do this, and I understand the countless issues with passive voice and disingenuous framing etc etc. But sometimes these reactions are just pedantic nitpicking I don't think "make every headline sound like a liberal version of the New York Post" is the desired alternative here

There is truly nothing you could do to make fun of the NYT covering the Obama Cheesecake Factory quip instead of Trump being accused of rape. It’s completely beyond parody.

Whenever demons like RFK say this shit, people often react with counterarguments: "well Arab X actually did produce science, and Arab Y actually won the Nobel Prize". They're well-intentioned and I get where they're coming from but I think it's the wrong impulse

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

RFK is spouting pure gutter racism. THAT is the issue. Even if it *was* true that Arabs "didn't produce science", that wouldn't give him the right to talk about an entire culture of people like this. We shouldn't be debating the *accuracy* of his racism

The same thing happened when RFK said that autistic people will never pay taxes or go on dates. Of course they will/do! The existence of "Love on the Spectrum" contradicts every word he said. But it doesn't matter! Autistic people don't need to justify their lives to the worst people on the planet!

I genuinely like Liberty Biberty. Not the commercials, not the voice or personality, just his horrible design. Maybe it's because I've always been a fan of things that look like they *should* be cute but are actually weird and off-putting (Furby)

The LA mayoral race has been so interesting. The unpopular incumbent (Karen Bass) is being challenged by a progressive city council member (Nithya Raman). So Bass's main strategy is basically pretending that she hasn't been mayor for the past four years and blaming everything on Nithya. Which...?

Her other strategies are 1) appealing to the crazy LA conservatives who still believe the election was stolen from reality TV star Spencer Pratt and would never ever vote for her, 2) slinging really childish insults at Nithya (such as "nobody even likes you") and 3) hiding

Look at these ads that were paid for by a pro-Bass PAC, posted in Hollywood Setting aside how cruel and dehumanizing they are, they simply make no sense. Hollywood isn't Nithya's district! It's like when people argue that socialism will usher in [every problem that exists under capitalism]

seems like "on the orders of a nazi every major news outlet on the planet hounded an innocent man to death because he's black" should be one of the biggest stories of the year

I'm also available to be profiled about what I believed when I was 11

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Michael Fusella supported President Trump for nearly a decade. But as the Iran war drags on and the cost of living continues to climb, the 21-year-old Republican said he feels betrayed by a president who said he’d end overseas conflicts and lower prices.

At long last, we have created a way for you to take away Nikki's free will, from the classic horror movie "don't take away Nikki's free will"

One thing that really irks me about Bluesky is how every issue big and small is treated like the worst thing in the world Turning Nikki into a Fortnite skin is a bit tasteless when you consider the context of Obsession. That doesn't mean it's analogous to her being actually raped in the movie FFS

Bloody Disgusting@bloody-disgusting.com

Nikki from OBSESSION joins FORTNITE tomorrow. You wished for this...

Fortnite is a game where you can play as many popular characters. Nikki is a hugely popular character. It's really not any deeper than that Nobody playing as her is thinking "nyeh heh heh now I can violate her body, just like Bear did in the movie!" They're thinking "I loved Obsession"

Peggy Flanagan runs the kind of ad that every user on this website has been demanding Democrats run for years and the replies are just people getting mad that she didn’t use the exact words that they wanted. This website is addicted to getting mad and should knock it off. It’s embarrassing.

This year, federal agents terrorized our streets, killed our neighbors, and detained our children. Minnesotans were changed forever. Michele Tafoya thinks ICE treats kids “really well.” I think ICE should be ripped apart and replaced by a system grounded in dignity and due process.

Fuck ya’all. I’ve got an opinion and I don’t give a flying fuck if you like it. So sit down, shut your ass up, and take what I’ve gotta say cuz I’m not sorry if it triggers you. (*six minutes, twenty seven seconds later*) I’ve turned off comments and quote tweets on this post because of the trolls

I think that, like every other attempt they’ve made to go after high profile regime enemies through the legal system, this is likely to end poorly for them in court it is also an extremely dangerous escalation and should be treated like the emergency it is by both Dem leadership and the media

The horse carriage industry is coming to an end in New York City. Our administration will make sure workers and owners are protected and the horses are safe.

The Shane Gillis joke sucked and it's good that people are saying so. But also I am so sick of the pervasive idea that any random person with vaguely lib/left opinions is "The Left". Like no disrespect to TheFilmMaestro on X but I don't think they are an ambassador to Woke lol

Jack Saint@lackingsaint.bsky.social

so calling women who wear gym shorts whores was part of the "woke 2.0" platform? exciting stuff, I can't imagine why this cultural movement exists exclusively on twitter

You can point to a million good examples of conservatives being bigoted, fascist etc: Influencers, pundits, politicians, THE POTUS. But when people criticize libs/leftists for being too woke they always quote something Hasan Piker said out-of-context, or some random Twitter user with 55 followers
