Was on the road yesterday with Democratic Kansas Senate candidate Adam Hamilton, who did 3 stops on a bus tour. Met a lot of Republicans for Hamilton, people fed up with the direction of the country. Hamilton would be the first Democrat elected to the Senate from Kansas since 1932.

On the road today in Kansas. Caught a speech from Don Coover, a livestock vet running close in a red district in KS02. He visibly choked up twice talking about ICE raids in western Kansas and the impact on ranchers. Under the radar big issue in Kansas.

Another Kilmar Armando Ábrego García situation unfolding in Equatorial Guine right now - you'll be shocked to learn ICE lied to a judge.

HOLY SHIT. In a sworn statement yesterday, an ICE agent told a federal judge that an ICE flight to Equatorial Guinea had been cancelled and so couldn't be used to bring Ahmed Soliman back to the United States. The plane just landed in Equatorial Guinea. prospect.org/2026/10/23/t...

This is crazy. @gillianbrockell.com found out about an ICE flight headed to Equatorial Guinea, where an immigrant who a federal judge has ordered to be returned home is currently imprisoned. ICE told the judge the Guinean leg was canceled. Flight data shows it wasn't. prospect.org/2026/10/23/t...

"Nobody trying to stop billionaires from being taxed has proposed anything to save MLKCH or any other lifeline hospital serving millions of poor people." I think the discourse around Prop 40 has lost the point that if we don't pass it our community hospitals are totally and utterly fucked.

I visited MLK Community Hospital in South LA, the only safety-net hospital serving poor patients in the area. The ER was built for 25,000 patients a year; it gets 120,000. I saw patients getting treated in the gift shop, the chapel, in tents, even outdoors. And this is before the Medicaid cuts.

Congress has vowed to put boundaries around the private equity-style deals in the Pentagon, stripping several offices of the ability to lead equity investments. But that bill hasn't passed yet, and in the meantime, the Pentagon has made $775 million in new investments using outside funds.

An ICE charter flight is headed to Equatorial Guinea, according to documents obtained by @gillianbrockell.com. One immigrant imprisoned there, Ahmed Soliman, was ordered returned to the US two weeks ago. Will ICE pick him up, or just drop off more deportees? Here's our report.

Big scoop today on @prospect.org 🤯 Republican Sen. Roger Marshall and his wife have financial stakes in PE funds that are bankrupting rural hospitals. The same PE firm also owns two pesticide companies that would benefit from bills Marshall has sponsored. His wife has invested in both of them.

The donor, Dan Tasset, and Marshall have been business partners since the 1990s. They've hired each other's relatives, and Tasset appears to own the house where Marshall's son lives.

Campaign spending from GEO Group and CoreCivic, the 2 main private prison/ICE detention companies, suggest they've mostly given up on the House and are trying to save the Senate for the GOP. Major recipients: Susan Collins, Ashley Moody, Ken Paxton, Mike Rogers, Jon Husted, Ashley Hinson

Tantalizing new clue here from @markalfred.bsky.social on the failed “deportation fleet.” I first reported in February that DHS contractor (a former Noem donor) overpaid for the planes, starting last December. gillianbrockell.com/noems-luxury...

The Washington Sun@washingtonsun.com

The purchase of several aircraft by the DHS during the final days of former Secretary Kristi Noem’s tenure is tied to an “ongoing criminal law enforcement investigation,” the department’s Privacy Office told The Washington Sun.
