Some Lula supporters apparently shouted his name out their window when it was announced he won and a cop pointed his gun at him and they took what is possibly the greatest image of a cop ever taken, like genuinely this would go hard as a cover for a Rage album its so poetic.

What’s that you say? Liz has a new book out which even the Telegraph is saying is even more unhinged than the last one? Wonderful, I’ll post this then.

Watching Broadcast News again and have to stand by my last Letterboxd review from 2019 which said “Serious question: Why has Joan Cusack never won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar? She is the Michael Jordan of supporting roles.”

Guillermo Del Toro dropping another one liner that’s exactly how I feel about AI slop, the “punishment” is built in

Hard to believe given the massive backsliding recently but attitudes to homosexuality and race are still massively better that the 70s. I don’t think a BBC program called “The Black And White Minstrel Show” would be acceptable in prime time these days.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Maybe AI should just cure 1 disease to start with. 1 disease cured soon. Not all diseases cured at some vague later date that’s always tantalisingly “probably 5 years away“

Straight into the top spot, we have a new #1 on the “Creating the Torment Nexus” chart. Grant Morrison needs to put a hex on them.

Much ringing of hands about this best albums site but it seems pretty good to me, listen to the top 100 and you’ll have a good broad view of the critical mainstream, I particularly like there’s a few greatest hits in there, why would the best of a great artist not be their best album? bestalbums.xyz

Man, this one hurts, it looks amazing. Another round of “What is the games industry doing?” - surely would have made an absolute boatload of cash, the bigger the games industry gets the less it makes sense.

Can confirm that this is a real trailer of the Mass Effect game that BioWare was developing up until its closure yesterday www.reddit.com/r/masseffect...

This quote from Simon Willison sums up the reality of post-LLM software development. I don’t think any programmer is a clean split so your differential of grief/joy will vary.

The thing with AI assisted development is that it gets you to 80% finished fast, but the last 20% is where the value is and that takes a lot more time and effort that AI can’t speed up anywhere near as fast as that first 80%. People who haven’t built real products do not understand that at all.

I’d say the real commercial value is in the last 5% and I’m not sure AI can help you much at all with that. It’s a lot of small tweaks from long conversations, experimentation, and user research that makes the experience “delightful” and gets you all the benefits of word-of-mouth recommendations

Furious on Disney+ is amazing, a series that you think is going to go from 1 to 11 on the terrible people scale and then shakes its head at you and shows you the terrible people scale is infinite, currently on 724, no end in sight

Being in an emergency room and worrying about Trans people rather than whatever you are there for is wild. At some point we need to start treating this like the mental illness it increasingly seems to be.

Dear Disney+, I don’t want to watch Psycho Killer, and after the first 20 time you showed me the advert maybe you should have stopped showing me it

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

Pretty sure people people going back to Twitter is a bad signal for the “content” economy. Fake engagement is falling off a cliff due to the glut of slop and death of Google search. Only alternative is build a real audience and these people don’t have time for that, so time to return to the cesspit.

There’s a whole other TV series about building some kind of inter-dimensional trading empire happening in the background of the 2nd season of Dark Matter and I’d rather be watching that tbh

The new Carrie series is excellent, Flanagan is so good at this, unlike some King adapters he understands that the time you spend with the characters is what makes it all work

used AI to personalize my Mario Kart. No more weird vehicles, we're all in Subarus now. The courses are the streets of my youth, and instead of shells we're picking up Gobstoppers. Yoshi looks like my dog. All the rest of the characters are sexy ladies who are there because they really want to be
