The biggest tell about this whole AI disclosure thing with AI bros and Tim Sweeney is that if Gen AI is so good then what's the problem with disclosing it, and if consumers are genuinely concerned about whether a game contains AI that it would impact their purchase, why would you want to hide it?

Let's be real, the only reason Tim Sweeney hate's AI disclosures in games is because he knows it hurts sales. This man does not give a shit about the state of the gaming industry insofar as it relates to quality as long as Epic can profit from it.

Genuinely what in the fuck is this goofy-ass apples-to-oranges comparison. He's crashing out because everyone is vocally telling him they want to know if what they're buying has AI slop or not.

There's a greater conversation to be had about how this will end up being the red line for some people and not the other truly vile things to have come out about this woman, but Vivek doubling down on platforming her only for this to come out as well underlines how truly he deserves to lose.

He either knew or didn't care how evil this woman was because he thought it would damage his political opponent. Congrats on making your entire campaign be about what a massive piece of shit you are Just incredible levels of hubris.

Etsy were happy to let this continue for as long as they made money from it and I can only imagine they're doing this now because of the reputational and financial harm its done to their business.

Finally Etsy is putting some restrictions to AI slop

When EA got sold they saddled the company with $20 billion debt to finance it. I doubt this will be the first of the major cuts. finance.yahoo.com/news/ea-goes...

So Musk announcing every US child getting a SpaceX share was definitely an attempt to wash the media with coverage of that rather than him crippling Starlink in Ukraine.

I find this terminal/CRT style to be a very appealing aesthetic in games, although you don't see it all too often outside of roguelikes. (Games shown: Duskers, Cogmind, Mainframe Defenders, Effulgence RPG)

Konami being a voice of reason? Gaming industry crash indicator.

He only got cold feet since he was worried it'd hurt his business in Europe. Pretty sure this news story is going to wake a few more people up that they need to rid themselves of their dependence on both Elon and the US.

If I built an AI lab and it went rogue and deleted all student loan information, I'm betting they'd suddenly figure out how to prosecute me.

Generative AI is destroying the internet but if it takes down companies like Adobe with it then I guess there's a slither of a silver lining, but nobody wins in the end.

Holy shit. Someone has decompiled the Adobe suite, rebuilt it in Rust and released it as open source. Either all software is dead or the US copyright laws are about to receive an update. getartcraft.com/apps

JRR Tolkien: You paint that picture of the key scene from the Two Towers where Frodo and Sam fight Gollum? Donato Giancola: Sure did, Ron, real fuckin' sexy just like you asked. JRRT: What.

People have got SteamOS running on android now. Literally just an android app you install and run and there it is, Steam. It still has to run through a compatibility layer, but it's astounding how well PC gaming has progressed on Android gaming handhelds. Basically just mini Steam Decks now.

I'm still a bit weary of signing into a third-party app with my Steam credentials personally but I've been using Winlator for so long now that I'm happy with the level of control I have over the various settings to get games running. Compatibility still isn't at the x86 level, but it's still great.

A common recurring theme among AI bros is that they clearly wish they were hooked up to the digital equivalent of a feeding tube.

Trump might have one of the worst grasps of basic economics I've ever seen.

BREAKING: The White House is preparing a plan for a 90-day diesel exports ban, per Politico. Experts, and Trump Energy Secretary Chris Wright, warn this move wouldn't bring down prices, and could make things worse.

What does he think is going to happen to the cost of importing goods into the US if he does this? If gen AI doesn't cause the next global recession, Trump will beat them to it.

I'm not going to give credit Nintendo for this because they should've been doing this a long time ago, but they've finally started addressing card pull rates so scalpers can't keep buying up all the cards. Bonus is that scalpers are absolutely miserable about this. collider.com/pokemon-tcg-...

collider.comPokémon Officially Targets Scalpers With Sweeping New ChangePokémon TCG: 30th Celebration’s unusually generous pull rates are driving down card prices and dealing a major blow to scalpers.

Writing seemed on the wall when she started openly glazing the use of generative AI.

Pulling out a tiny violin for the mainstream media outlets who capitulated to Trump and are now faced with the consequences of being silent when it mattered most. I dunno maybe you should've done more with that press freedom when you had the opportunity.

Mainstream media outlets putting self-preservation ahead of freedom of the press thinking that sucking up to Donald Trump would somehow spare them. Fucking idiots.

xAI, OpenAI and Anthropic (three for-profit companies) didn't all just come to the conclusion simultaneously that they need to slow down AI development because of AI safety. None of these companies have ever acted like safety is their foremost concern. They've hit a wall.

Very convenient that big AI companies can now tell investors the reason their new AI models are struggling to improve is because they're knee-capping the models on purpose because now they really really care about AI safety. Biggest corporate fraud in human history.

I don't quite know how to articulate it, but Sydney Sweeney now just now seems to be a parody of herself, where her single defining trait is that she's hot, it's all people every say about her, and solely how she advertises herself. Which is fine, but it gets to a point. She insists upon herself.

Sort of in the same way people say Sabrina Carpenter is undeniably pretty, but not hot. The hotness becomes such a performance that it all feels very artificial.

Also you can tell how shallow her presence has become in the way she's become default-hot-person people suggest for literally any female acting role now.

Saw a review of that new Wolverine game and man AAA gaming is becoming bleak. Out of control budgets for on-rails games that can't even trust the player to follow a linear path without making you follow a glowing trail and quick time events that just resolve themselves if you don't press a button.
