Simon talking about systems theory changed how I approach problems at work, and it’s been so helpful. Highly recommend getting along to hear him if you can!

When delivery slows down, it's tempting to do something. Add people. Add AI agents. Restructure the teams. Buy better tools. Introduce a new process. The activity goes up. The meetings go up. The reporting goes up. But does the work actually get delivered faster?

This sums up my feelings on the term "content creator" so well.

Fernando Gros@fernandogros.com

"Silicon Valley tried to turn artists into content creators. Now they are trying to replace content with AI slop. Algorithms and search engines tried to force us to make all our work look and feel the same. Averaging out the differences that make unique voices stand out."

After 4+ years spent tinkering, Bravest Coconut is available on Steam. It's a Point & Click Adventure with no pointing and clicking, taking the quirky puzzles from games like Monkey Island and mixing with the exploration and action of retro Zeldas: s.team/a/2913190 #Godot #PixelArt #IndieGame

We love a good LOTR reference! Thrilled to have Prakriti join #YOWTLS26 in Melbourne to share Culture Amp’s lessons when rebuilding their 2nd largest product - Performance

Justin Mclean now joins #YOWTLS26 in Melbourne to share real lessons from open source projects that have scaled without collapsing under their own weight.

I've found the mental hack to force myself out of bed to ride my bike by myself in the morning. If I don't ride in the morning, I'll run in the evening. I hate running so much. So this morning: "I don't want to ride" "I could go back to bed and run tonight" "Fuck that, I'll RIDE THE BIKE NOW".

I just found this in my notes from August 2020. 2020 - A Haiku Can you hear me now? Can everybody see my screen? Sorry Dave, you’re on mute

We're super excited to have @stringyland.bsky.social joining #YOWTLS26! If your team has started the accessibility journey but struggles to sustain its implementation in the long term, her talk is for you. 🎟️ Melbourne 16 Jun yowcon.com/tech-leaders... 🎟️ Brisbane 17 Jun yowcon.com/tech-leaders...

Wanna join me at YOW Tech Leaders Summit in June? If you need to level up accessibility for your team, you should! Melbourne 16 June: yowcon.com/tech-leaders... and Brisbane 17 June: yowcon.com/tech-leaders... Tagging in @yowconf.bsky.social

I’ve just been doing some relatively unscientific benchmarks. And holy crap NATS is quick. NATS core is not much slower than just in memory message handling, and even with JetStream persistence turned on it’s much faster than Redis.

I'm going to be at YOW Tech Leaders Summit, helping you with accessibility - if you join us! Lots of great talks that I'm excited for too, just an all-round good time I reckon #YOWTLS26

Most teams care about accessibility. But over time, it slips. At #YOWTLS26, Julie is focusing on what comes next & making accessibility stick. If your team struggles to sustain it, this one's for you. 🎟️ MEL 16 Jun yowcon.com/tech-leaders... 🎟️ BNE 17 Jun yowcon.com/tech-leaders...

I bought this based on @anildash.com's review. Just arrived. This is my weekend reading sorted.

I think 99% of business and tech books are bullshit, but Crisis Engineering is that rare one that's actually insightful, because it captures insights from people who've actually managed crises, and teaches how to navigate your way out of them in a rational way. www.anildash.com/2026/04/08/w...

Apple Music wants to make me feel old. I mean, Shake Your Money Maker is a great (classic even) rock album, but it was the 90s FFS! It's not Abbey Road.

I've started trialling @plausible.io as a Google Analytics replacement and it looks great. It's simple, no evil tracking, and just shows me what I want. It's a super nice onboarding experience too. Impressed so far.

The CFP for this just closed and there are some fantastic talks in there. Obviously I am biased, but the program will be excellent! If you’re a new leader, or looking to scale your org. This will be a great event.

As a slight aside. I finally got around to using Bluesky as the comment engine for my blog. I’ve ditched disqus.

The great thing about the Brisbane to Gold Coast train is that while you’re on it you’re not in either place.

I've been waiting for this album to be released for ages. I knew they were working on it. The original Joe Cocker album is an all time fave, I grew up listening to my dads records and this got played a lot. tidal.com/album/466022...

In the late 90s a synthesis engine was built - so powerful, it was separated from its language & set free. Today, running in an AudioWorklet it survives as a soldier of sound. If you have a web page... if you need real-time synthesis... maybe you can call SuperSonic. sonic-pi.net/supersonic/d...

Here's an idea for creatives to explore in 2026. Build a scene. Take the time you spend promoting your work and devote 80% of that to creating a scene. Connect with other creatives. Create a buzz around your location. Your unique culture, vibe, and history. Don't be an atom. Be a universe.
