It’s a new story week for me this week! ACES HIGH, ACES LOW appears in Flame Tree Presss’ THE TAROT OF LOVE anthology! Art commissioned from @giuliac.bsky.social

I keep imagining @dropout.tv producing a video where Robert Reich just stands there in sunglasses while Brennan Lee Mulligan goes apeshit on Elon Musk.

Sign this petition to require med schools to teach ME/CFS and POTS diagnostics and care. These are incredibly common conditions that somehow docs have never heard of, and sub-standard care makes people's quality of life go permanently down. That's what happened to me. c.org/pnyF4Grgxt

5 days to go on the Apex Kickstarter. They're at $16,446 pledged of their $21,000 goal. Times are hard and money *sucks* right now, but if you can drop a dollar in the hat, it would probably help.

The fun thing about writing a YA is that the character can do something so stupid and the answer for why is “they are a 16yo with adhd”

Contract signed this morning with @foofarawpress.bsky.social! My short story “The Name of the Moon” should be available to read through their zine early next year!

Good morning, the fog is magical today. Here is a morning reminder of my gift shop. xo

omg omg omg burn it all down

comp titles are used for showing agents which authors you think you could beat in a fight

sent scary email; deserve a cupcake

the gif summary of my ya heroine, whomst i love with allst my heart:

"Let’s be clear: this is not religious persecution. It’s a test. And you can study for tests. You don’t even have to study that hard. You just have to believe in Jesus." buff.ly/oFYteni

This is for you jerks who think cats are all aloof and don't love their family. art by Herta Burbe

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

If you’re wondering what the vibe is going into the midterms the New England fall fair I went to today had a crochet guillotine for sale.

Ysabel Yates'... I mean Cookie Monster's superb takedown of why GenAI in the workplace sucks.

Anyway: the idea that her citizenship can be undone beyond the statute of limitations because someone else committed a crime (even if true) is not something that we should tolerate.

Ilhan Omar got derivative citizenship when her father was naturalized. She didn't do anything to get citizenship except be her father's child. What the fuck conduct can they point to on her part. Rationality is not their point in any of this, but we need to point out that there's no fucking way.

don't forget a good city watch

Add "for Tax Purposes" to a movie: Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar for Tax Purposes

i like that the new narnia trailer feels like it's in visual dialogue with doctor who. it's working for me.

Almost a year after I finished writing the story, my author copies of THE TAROT OF LOVE arrived! They are so pretty in person and I'm so happy that my words are part of this anthology 😍🥰 #BookSky

Recently, Must Read Magazines (MRM) bought three of the most legendary SFF magazines: Analog, Asimov’s, and The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. MRM immediately started changing the contracts to try to take more rights from authors without paying for them.

OMG we are at 98%. Sooooooo close!!! www.kickstarter.com/projects/bet...

In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, I’m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

Boy mom culture, but about orange cats instead

Kind of a buried lede in the results of this Supreme Court approval rating poll from Marquette: Overall support for Supreme Court expansion, which even Democratic politicians were dismissing as "radical" just a few years ago, is now at 53 percent today.marquette.edu/2026/09/marq...

Dressmaker is a masterpiece.

"rejection is the hardest part of writing" "taking criticism is the worst part of writing" incorrect. Waiting For Email

Canada is refusing to issue ISBNs to books primarily generated with AI. This illustrates both the urgency of the problem of the growing flood of slop books, and also the toothlessness of addressing it on the honor system without there also being consequences for lying

This is a good illustration of how so much of AI theft isn't indirect (ie, data sucked into a model to train the chatbot) - it's actually **direct** copying, but *enabled* by GenAI. Of course it is: chatbots absolutely suck at creating good, new stuff.

anyone know how to make sure this never appears again on my mac? it appeared in scrivener which *definitely* didn't do this, this is all the latest mac os.

The Gardener nurtures the Fool

My poem "Swimming the Witch," about how systems of power often create the very things they are attempting to quell, is now free to read at @trollbreathmag.bsky.social -- just in time for spooky season! I hope you enjoy! magazine.trollbreath.com/swimming-the...
