The AI that @bsky.app uses to summarize trending topics is often very incorrect. I'd caution you not to take those summaries at face value... Click into them and see what people are actually saying because sometimes it's night and day Also, just my opinion, we don't need AI summaries for trends.

Highly recommend Switch Sports Resort! There's something in there for everyone and I'd say it's a very strong improvement to Switch Sports from a couple years ago. It also makes me want to play Wii Sports Resort again, but in a good way. Each game has its own vibe and I'm glad we have both!

Giving people homebrew solutions for current gen consoles does so much harm to game preservation in the long-term By the time the Switch 2 is obsolete there's a good chance a softmod won't be possible.

NESbot@nesbot.bsky.social

Nintendo Switch 2 hacked (by AI), first jailbreak released, allows hombrew, dumping and modding games www.resetera.com/threads/16...

We only JUST got to the point where the 3DS is fully obsolete. Nintendo won't even fix them for you anymore. THAT is when you focus on homebrew They literally just want twitter likes and piracy. Don't let them trick you into thinking this is some kind of win for game preservation

It's been so painful to watch this industry circle the drain these last couple of years but stories like this still manage to leave me in disbelief I hope these mega talented developers, writers and artists land on their feet

I'm so tired of seeing AI thumbnails on YouTube... They look awful. Worse, they all look the same. The entire point of a thumbnail is to communicate a clear message while trying to stand out, but my homepage is like 60% AI thumbnails at this point and if that's you... You're not standing out.

I've was previously blocking channels that have AI thumbnails but lately I've given up on even doing that. I just wanna watch videos from people who care, man... If you're using AI thumbnails I think you only care about having people WATCH your videos rather than making videos FOR your viewers

I consider myself a Z-tier graphic designer. If I can cobble together a thumbnail without AI so can you. You can either learn the skill or you can just have your videos look like everyone else's and remain stagnant forever. All I know is I ain't watching your stuff.

I get that the making thumbnails is not the "fun" part of YouTube but imo having an AI thumbnail is worse than no thumbnail at all. If anything it just communicates to me that you don't care. If you cut corners on the thumbnail, where else did you cut corners? Why should I watch your video?

Severance at #30 is bad enough but Survivor is at 31??? Why is Survivor even HERE??? Which AI model dribbled out this nonsensical list?!

Cancel Discord Nitro if you haven't already. They clearly don't need your money anyway

@discord.com I see now why age verification started rolling out, fuck this and fuck you for doing this

Support your local library, folks. There's also the high seas which, you do you! No judgement here But libraries offer SO much modern content. Some (all?) even have FREE streaming services you can use. For free. Without ads. See if your library has Hoopla or Kanopy Also go register to vote.

I've already been buying anything I'd watch on D+ physically, and getting that started was expensive. But now it feels like those up-front costs are paying off Not trying to brag here, this is gross. When I do pay for subscriptions, I always go for the ad-free tier because I want a good experience!

IGN@ign.com

Disney+ has altered its user agreement to clarify that ads will be allowed on all subscription tiers. https://bit.ly/4hhOjBo

I tend to watch what I wanna watch on a service and then cancel. But when it comes to Disney+ now, I'm just gonna wait until I can watch their stuff off-platform. (not that there's been much worth watching over there... in like a long time)

The price of the Steam Frame makes it truly not worth it to me. I'm not even blaming Valve, I get it... It just sucks because if the device was more affordable perhaps development for VR games would pick up again. I wanted to snag this headset when it came around but not for $1k

Noooot really much for me personally in that Nintendo Direct (which is probably good because I have enough games right now)

Uh no. I will not be putting the "Gen-AI controversy aside" I just won't be buying the game. It's pretty simple

Eurogamer@eurogamer.bsky.social

Gen-AI controversy aside, after 30 minutes with Crazy Taxi: World Tour, it feels like classic arcade Sega - and it's an absolute blast www.eurogamer.net/crazy-taxi-w...

Not sure what they were thinking with this post... If they really don't care about the gaming using genAI then why even mention it? Whatever screw eurogamer

I will add pressure to this by saying that any company that claims to not hold onto your personal data after verifying you? They're lying. Ive been nitro free since the first time they tried this, voice how you feel with your wallet people. Make them really feel that squeeze.

Found another n64 recomp that was likely vibe-coded and I'm getting super frustrated Ethical issues aside it's straight up dangerous to install vibe-coded projects made by people you don't trust

At this point the only recomp I feel comfortable playing is DK64 Rekongpiled which makes itself VERY clear that it's 100% human-made Can I prove it? No. Do I believe them? Yes!

These other projects keep getting called out for using AI and none of them even bother to deny it, so I feel pretty confident that the people accusing them of using AI are correct and I just can't support that On the bright side, I have more reasons to use my Analogue 3D

I'm at that stage of Steam Deck ownership where there's always something wrong with it... The hard drive is always full, my joysticks are coming apart and doing simple things causes really odd issues and crashes

Sorry if I'm in the minority but getting gas (or even charging electric vehicles??) in GTA VI sounds fun but I'm also not that bothered by tool durability in Animal Crossing sooo if you're gonna come for me just know who you're dealing with

Kinda reminds me of the latest era of Doctor Who The plan was a soft reboot of the show to where they even called it "Season 1" but then they filled it with references and lore that dated back to episodes that aired in the 1960's

I have a ton of thoughts about Pokemon Bank shutting down and my current relationship with the Pokemon franchise right now. Gonna be putting together a video soon!

To be clear I love the free updates for Stardew! Just an interesting trade-off as someone who loves collecting physical games

And I know this film flopped but I don't really pay any mind to negative reviews these days because everyone hates everything on social media. Buuuut now I find myself jumping on that bandwagon. Not fun, but listen, quality over quantity.

Pokemon Bank should at least be converted to an offline app used for simply storing your Pokemon and moving them between your own games

This was bound to happen eventually but it still sucks. They're going to slowly re-sell us every game in the franchise for the HOME era

Serebii.net@serebii.bsky.social

Serebii Update: Pokémon Bank will stop working and being able to connect to Pokémon HOME on February 26th 2027. Pokémon will not be able to stored any longer in it and it cannot connect to Pokémon HOME after that day serebii.net

I've begun replaying the older games through emulators though and I plan to continue doing that rather than re-buying the older titles as they get re-released. I even use a program called "OpenHome" to store and move my Pokemon across generations and it works perfectly!

Baldur's Gate 3 Which feels bad but I could nooot get into it. It just starts out slow and also I'm terrible at it

I'm not a steelbook guy but it's releases like this that make me feel like physical media is going to be around for awhile The market for stuff like this amongst collectors is big! A lot of them will buy the same movie multiple times to collect all the various editions of it

Nintendeal@nintendeal.com

Spider-Man: Brand New Day 4K SteelBook design has been revealed Amazon: amzn.to/45jvEjj Walmart: bit.ly/3RBPQtu #ad

Physical games might be a forgone conclusion for Playstation and Xbox but movies and TV (movies in particular) seem healthy That's just my pov though! I don't have spreadsheets full of data convincing me of this, but Brand New Day is still in theaters and we're already hyping the steelbook

Prediction: the PS6 will be a cheap handheld device, similar to the PS Portal (but it'll also connect to a TV) It will only play games through an online cloud subscription service. It'll cost between $200-$300 and require you to have a PS Plus subscription to use (which most PS gamers already have)

A Cloud gaming future is the worst case scenario. It worked for movies but we didn't know any better (and it was so cheap at first omg) The monthly costs will still be high, server downtime will be a regular problem, exclusively fights will shift games to other services regularly No thanks.

I'm fully expecting GTA 6 to be a fine video game that I'll spend lots of hours in But what are our expectations here REALLY? How much more could they possibly add that wasn't in GTA 5? I don't see how THIS level of hype is going to pay off
