unironically if you're already going to do this at least do some crypto mining instead and generate a miniscule amount of profit from the unnecessary work you're forcing me to do

the last 48 hours was time consuming because a lot of stuff i/wisp rely on were downstream of many of the CVEs released recently, as well as bugs wisp itself had. if wisp is useful to you, donations are much appreciated and keep things smooth: ko-fi.com/waveringana github.com/sponsors/Wav...

ngl playing mario games after replaying celeste feels like i'm trying to control a block of room temperature butter with a claw machine through a dial up connection

didnt hear anything from my tinder matches ever since the yandex data centres went offline #noticing

why can't i be like normal men and like gta and fifa, instead i gotta be like "hell yea what a beautiful day, lets go collect all red strawberries in celeste"

The 'make game' button has arrived and it is everything that anyone without any fantasy, hopes and dreams could've wanted.

bough an AYN Thor for a trip and wtf you can play Steam games on Android??? even switch games work well! fuck kinda dark magic is this?

coding is solved and no one writes code anymore and there are no bugs because agents solve them all, yet in the year of our lord 2026 i still cannot connect an Android device to an iOS device with a cable and transfer files in either direction

adding system specs to steam reviews was a 300 IQ move from valve because you really get to see people with 2018 GPUs complaining about "lazy devs not optimizing their game" and internalize these people's votes count the same as yours

why does my systemd unit randomly terminate? process opens a file on a NFS mount during ExecStartPre ⤷ systemd infers a dependency ⤷ the mount has `automount` and `idle-timeout` ⤷ after some time the mount times out ∴ systemd HELPFULLY deactivates the service WITHOUT an explanation

somehow, throughout all this, a unit that does actively use the NFS mount stays running!! and it properly automounts if the unit requests it!! but systemd magic didn't infer a dependency so it's fine! at least log a message saying "unit was deactivated because it requires a unit that went away"!!!!

this is something that annoys me greatly about the Linux desktop: vast decades of work sunk into designing clones of proprietary experiences from ages past, clinging to the notion that everything beyond Word 2003, the Start Menu and the App Store is not understandable to the mythical Average User

If you boost shit like this you instantly lose my respect. The software on the left is a GNU clone of shit made by Adobe/MS/Lotus/blah 30 years ago. The thing on the right is a desperate attempt at staying afloat. It's the symptom not the problem. Stop with the rosy retrospection bs.

people wonder why David HH got morbillions for his dotfiles. Yeah technocratic reactionaries searching for a tax writeoff is probably a reason. But it's also likely the first time many people were exposed to the experience of a computer that goes beyond "Windows 7 with GNU coreutils"

landlord installed a new ikea oven, the sticker is in cyrillic and the oven has not been on market since 2018

i am genuinely so confused, how do you source a brand new in box oven that's not been sold for EIGHT years

recently got algorithmed into people who pointsmaxx on airlines and i'm impressed by the exploits they find, but also slightly horrified that there are genuinely people who book short haul connecting business class flights just to get their status up

like at that point clearly the airline should just let you pay them a yearly fee for the status and be done with it? wouldn't that be more efficient and less damaging for literally everyone?

"do the Antwerp hack and then fly to JFK from AMS via CDG for 120XP rather than direct from AMS to JFK which only gives you 60XP" we should send airline loyalty program managers to do an internship at blizzard so they learn about paid battle pass tier skips and stop doing this shit

i spent countless hours configuring (n)vim for a decade, just to end up using helix and zed with minimal configs. it's fine guys, let it go. there are better ways to spend your time than to fix your LSP setup every weekend.

i can finally run all 32GBs of RAM i bought over a year ago in anticipation of The Current Situation and all it took was getting a 7mm taller heatsink for my comically overpowered 9900x

yes i've been running 16gb so far and to be fair i haven't noticed many issues yes i think 32gb is more than sufficient and if you need more than 64 you're probably larping #truthnuke

problem: you want to use public transport in helsinki 2025 solution: you download an app and purchase a day ticket. 2026 solution: log in. decline always on location tracking. decline it again. you can only buy a day ticket if you "strongly authenticate". you need to log in with your govt ID. 1/

no biggie, real EU-heads like me have digital IDs from several countries. find croatia, log in. they tell me it requires the use of a card reader in the year of our lord 2026. ok.jpg. open HSL website on pc to complete auth there. can't find auth. look around more. auth only possible in app. 3/

give up. uninstall app. install it again. refuse to log in. purchase day ticket as guest. it works. masterful work as always kojima

scroll down to look for your country's ID portal. click digid. discover that the HSL app is running the in-appbrowser in some cursed sandbox so the govt auth app on your phone is not recognized. try auth with username/pass. this also fails, because fuck you. 2/

nix is great and i love it but it will be defeated by whoever bolts on a human-readable language on top of it

this is also a reason why guix is doomed to stallmanian obscurity (no one should write lisp, especially people who do write lisp)

why can't anthropic burn a morbillion tokens on a version of nix that i can write HCL for so that I never in my life have to read a stack trace from the depths of hell after writing "pkgs.linux_latest" instead of "pkgs.linuxPackages_latest" instead of doing boring math problems

however I would go to latin mass for a year before I installed 'suckless software' on my PC

there's a concerning amount of ai-generated liberal slop "comics" on this platform and they always somehow oneshot the users of this website to the tune of thousands of likes i wish i wasnt here for it or that it was at least blockable in some way

it's going to be so over for the music industry when i finally complete my rockbox sync app for linux this is the mass market tech the media execs are trembling in fear of

dear diary, today, in my 30th year of life, 25th year of using computers, 11th year of working as a developer, and 14th year of using Linux in some capacity, i have finally invoked `find` with a non-trivial query without googling or copy-pasting.

do you think i can file a chargeback against logitech for sending me an invoice for 80 yen rather than 79.99€?
