The "dead voters" rumor reminds me to let you all know that: (1) we've seen A LOT of these same rumors before; and (2) you can play our interactive Bingo game to learn more about how these common tropes feed into "rigged election" rumors: bingo.cip.uw.edu

I love that in a lot of ways Death is more idealistic than most of the actual people on the Disc, and it shines through in Hogfather he doesn’t understand why the rich get better gifts, he doesn’t understand why the world is unfair, he doesn’t understood why the stories are just stories

For several days I have been hearing rumors of an ICE detainee death that ICE was not reporting. I've just learned a local journalist has confirmed it and will publish soon. Now I read this and see there are actually TWO deaths ICE is not reporting. www.daylightsandiego.org/ice-detainee...

If you're a D or D-adjacent voter in NC and haven't voted yet, you have the chance to help deliver truly historic curb-stomping to the R supermajorities in the NCGA Please go vote 😄

Okay, I deleted the original post because people didn't check the link at all and mistook my typo of "young men" seriously. I clearly meant young women. Not sure why this isn't a bigger story, but I read this entire report today. It's gutting. democrats-judiciary.house.gov/media-center...

I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

Jeremy Lewin killed hundreds of thousands without a signed employment agreement.

MJ: In the last six decades, there’s compelling evidence that they’ve tried to rig national elections at least five other times – in 1968, 1972, 1980, 2000, and 2020. Most of these plots you know about; some you may not. open.substack.com/pub/stopthep...

Huge headlines around the world. In major US media, unreported. Something's fishy here.

NEW: As expected, on a 2-1 vote, the Ninth Circuit dismisses DOJ's appeal in the US v. California case over DOJ's claims relating to "likely noncitizen" voting. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Another death in ICE custody this weekend, this one in Otay Mesa at the core civic facility www.daylightsandiego.org/ice-detainee...

So @lilianasegura.bsky.social and I just co-wrote a piece about the bodycam footage in the Kohan Wiley case. theintercept.com/2026/10/23/k...

It's similar with abortion - they say they want better evidence but they break the systems for building strong evidence and elevate weak systems because they know those systems will empower their allies to inject bias into the "evidence."

The Government™ has made an ad about all these protests happening around the world, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

Everyone should read these threads I did about industry lobbyists and the EPA and understand them. Take the time to see the unambiguous evidence of what's happening now at this moment inside the EPA. Please retweet them. Please read them. Each one of the threads. It's happening in slow motion.

In about 24 hours, poles will open here in Israel. In what is a strong contender for Israel’s most critical elections. The election pits Netanyahu’s extremely unpopular coalition against a non-coherent, but moderately more liberal, opposition. Here are some thoughts as we head into it.

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

Timothy the Hippo (Hippopotamus amphibius) at the San Antonio Zoo demonstrates why he's not in the petting area using a Fall pumpkin. 🦛🎃 The bite force of a hippo is ~2000 psi, producing a force of 8100 Newtons. So why does a GRASS-EATER have jaws stronger than a polar bear, jaguar or lion's?

At the Ninth Circuit in a rare Sunday argument over the request for an injunction pending appeal, Bennett says this US v. CA TRO situation is "far, far, far different than A.A.R.P. ... I don't see how we have jurisdiction." Oral argument here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIrq...

Just to be clear: That I *can* cover arguments while watching a race does not mean I *want* to do so. But, it happened today. Here’s my report: www.lawdork.com/p/ninth-circ...

Any politician who’s willing to throw away one group’s rights is willing to throw away everyone’s rights. It’s that simple. Every single consultant, pundit and candidate who’s shown a willingness to abandon trans rights needs to be shunned from the party forever

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

For today's alt #BirdOfTheDay theme, #FightingFeathers, bird-on-bird scuffles, here are a pair of mud-wrestling mud hens (Common Gallinules, with a Tri-Colored Heron referee). No one was injured, but they did smack each other in the face with their extra-long toes for a while.

Abundance!!! None of those everything bagel concerns about the environment that slows down development. Bravo, Texas! #Satire www.texastribune.org/2026/10/21/a...

the number of “yes on 42, no on 40” ads I’m seeing here in LA is depressing remember: yes on the billionaire tax (40), no on the ones canceling the billionaire tax (41 and 42)

Try to keep up: Dude conspires to kill his enemy, tries a coup, is judged and arrested for that. His SON, bragging that his father's blood runs in his veins, might be elected president today because his powerful buddies restricted public transportation around the country. I'm not stressed, you are.

We saw reports of "machines switching votes" in TN & TX. These are typically real issues — a calibration problem w/ older touchscreen machines — but not intentional efforts to rig the vote. Always good for voters to check that their vote is being recorded correctly. www.cip.uw.edu/2026/10/22/e...

Three days after the August primary, election workers in one Washington county went to check for late mail-in ballots. They expected no more than a few dozen. Instead, there were more than 500 — each a vote that wouldn’t count.

And Lindsey Graham should be remembered as someone who, on his very best day, was a sniveling coward with a moral compass that pointed only to power.

The hand-wringing over the Lindsey Graham thing "because he's not here to defend himself" strikes me as absolute bullshit. People who seek positions of enormous power and influence are not entitled to the sanitized legacy they'd give you. They should be remembered for who they really were.

Apparently, some Houston voters are putting their I Voted stickers on the Lorenzo Salgado Araujo memorial. Stephen Miller is ALREADY trying to scapegoat others for losing whatever races they lose in Texas and elsewhere. This is a vivid testament that for some voters, his murder squad is the reason.

What we learned is that former petrochemical lobbyists now inside the EPA are meeting with former clients and then moving to force career staff at the EPA to rollback public health protections. We found the actual documents detailing these moves. Smoking guns. (Redlines striking protections)

If you paid any federal income tax last year, then you paid more than these profitable corporations. When I say the system is broken, this is what I mean.
