Weird how many takes I see about using AI for coding being less bad than other uses because it lets people have a lower barrier to entry on writing software. That's just a hollow excuse, and convenient for those people, ultimately worthless. "That which I cannot build I do not understand"

I've been using linux for 30 days now and I'm really on the fence about making the switch permanent. On the one hand I despise windows and Microsoft is making it worse all the time, but on the other hand I spent my whole night troubleshooting something in my free time that I couldn't even fix

New bluesky feature where you get to delete someone else's post once a year. Locks their account for a day as well. They need to think about what they posted

my favorite pants ripped and I cant buy a new pair because it's a British company and they don't ship to the us anymore because we have an admin of fucking dipshits. I just want to buy pants man

Idk why but it really rubs me the wrong way when I ask someone "do you prefer <name> or <nickname>?" And they respond with "either is fine". What do you mean???? What do people call you?????

Been playing the silent hill 2 remake and it's so good. I have never played any silent hill games before, despite loving the RE franchise. I will be playing the rest of these.

I'm going to launch myself into the sun if another random IT person tells me something is "out of compliance" with no context

There been this really weird thing I've noticed, people that are usually anti-ai are very ready to excuse the use of AI to generate code by people who don't know how to code. Idk why they think this is an excusable usage. You're okay with some work being replaced when you don't see it as creative?

I consider my job to be just enduring psychological torture. If I can spend 40 hours a week without going completely insane and quitting they give me a paycheck.

Can someone tell vinyl record manufacturers to just always put the speed of the record on the label? Sometimes I'll play an electronic record I've never heard before at 33 1/3 only to find out later it was a secret 45. How tf was I supposed to know

Today I'm announcing that I will not allow any AI content on my navidrome server. I never would have anyway. That's how easy it is, take notes big streamers.

Kinda ironic how there was a mainstream narrative "no one wants to work anymore" a couple years ago and now the marketing for AI is entirely based around "you won't have to work anymore"

They invented credit cards to get people to spend money they didnt have, and now they want AI to make purchases that people wouldn't make. The system is working I guess

The soundtrack in forza horizon 6 is really good, with some artists I never expected to see in a AAA game, but it's kinda diminished by the fact that doing almost anything in the game (opening the menu for example) paused the music or outright skips the track

Remember: we were never given credit for being right about crypto, we were never given credit for being right about NFTs, we were never given credit for being right about the metaverse and we will never be given credit for being right about AI. Fuck 'em up anyway.

Every millennial's middle/high school dance song was akon's "don't matter" the year it came out

the babahuck@tylerhuckabee.bsky.social

had a debate last night about the definitive millennial song. some contenders: mgmt’s “kids,” yeah yeah yeah’s “maps,” kanye’s “all of the lights,” arcade fire’s “wake up,” postal service’s “such great heights,” animal collective’s “my girls,” lcd soundsystem’s “all my friends,” stroke’s “last nite”

In my experience, the download codes that come with vinyl records work approximately 60% of the time. Fewer and fewer records are being sold with download codes these days too, so it's especially bad that even the ones that still come with them don't work.

I should add that if the download code is a bandcamp code, it always works, and invariably it's more reliable to just order vinyl from bandcamp if you want the digital version too, but that takes away the joy of crate digging at a local record store. We need a better solution for providing downloads
