When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing β€œOld Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

It's always a challenge getting people to switch platforms, but Teamspeak has been going hard towards being a Discord replacement since the age verification stuff first came up, and their Communities features are looking pretty decent.

Would you like to contribute an OBJECT to live in a WAREHOUSE GAME? I'm working on a parser fiction game where you play as a worker in the warehouse of the gods- sorting, storing, rearranging objects, meandering. I need so many objects! Maybe even: one of yours? docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

When people talk about taking kids' devices away w/o addressing how they have fuck all else to do, I think about the insane shit all the bored suburban kids I knew got up to before cell phones You can't just take their phones away or they're gonna get into making homemade napalm & burn a field down

I like the friction term a lot because it exactly shows where is a conflict of interests between employee and employer. Conscious employee wants and needs some friction to develop their skills, enjoy work and not burnout but employeer wants to remove friction by any means to get the results asap

A message for the class of 2026: We need more friction!

a beautiful part of being trans is being largely immune to this shit. i'm, like, *terminally* retrobrained, everything i do is about Old Aesthetics, but have absolutely 0 desire to go back to any time except, like, 2015 (and even then, that's primarily just 'with a warning')

Gen Z has rediscovered the X-files & is realizing how dystopian the America of today is compared to the 90s "Watching The X-Files... has solidified my belief that I would have likely been happier in an age that preceded me." midnightmurmurations.substack.com/p/the-x-file...

The core of Double Exposure and Reunion, to me, is about trauma. But it's unfortunate that this works best when Chloe is out of the picture and it's Max and Safi being disasters together only to stumble when Max and Chloe reconnect, when their shared trauma is why they split up in the first place.

Life Is Strange: Reunion cares more about placating fans than giving this story and these characters the ending they deserve. www.avclub.com/life-is-stra...

Found another artist where it was like "huh, they were really prolific and then they just dropped off the map... um... February 2025. Why does that timing seem significant? Oh. Oh right. Fuck."

TBH when my anxiety level passes a certain point I go into survival mode and things like creating art are just beyond me, so maybe they are just a fellow "I've been in survival mode for years and this is my home now" person.

We will outlive them all and it will be with two middle fingers in the air, my friend. Find me if you need shelter, and I will tell the world to fuck off extra hard for a while while you rest.

Okay so Lost Records starts kinda slow and I didn't really care about all the 90s nostalgia, but the actual writing in there is really good. Kat was my ride or die and it’s rare that I want to throw down so hard for a fictional kid.

The answer to "why don't Americans rise up" is because the entire architecture of American society is designed - at great cost to every other aspect - to make dissent difficult. Cities aren't walkable, and are spread out across hours of roads. Losing your job means no healthcare. etc.
