Upgrading to UE 5.8 this morning because it seems like in 5.7 you can’t bind an actor reference from a top-level state tree task output to a parallel state tree’s input parameter— I mean you can, but it seems broken, the reference is invalid? I guess I’ll find out if upgrading gives the magic fix..

Ah, this was baby’s first parallel tree. I didn’t realize those parameter bindings aren’t reactive/declarative—there’s a little check box below, you have to tick it to copy params every frame

Updating project to 5.8 on Mac dev machine went tolerably, but the LauncherInstalled.dat on Windows machine isn’t right and seems like pointers to engine don’t work like 5.6 and 5.7 did All because I didn’t notice that checkbox, blerr

No amount of support for Russia can end the war, because Russia is the criminal aggressor. A modicum of support for Ukraine could, however, end the war, by making it impossible for Russia to continue. This should not be a hard choice.

This is from British politics, but given that this horseshit is global— There are NO tax cuts in modern times in the US or the UK that are “paying for themselves”. This is a peddled fairytale, and you should heap scorn on anyone pitching it to you. Just laugh in their face, send them running

The crudest thing about Trump 2 is the *mixing* of personal corruption with government business—arbitrary US moves can be appealed only by funneling money to Trump and family. One is continually struck by the hollowness of a Supreme Court that decided to SPECIFICALLY SHIELD that co-mingling!

It’s really irritating being able to see how American media works now that the Overton window is completely broken/owned If somebody else was president, we’d be hearing about this stuff for months or years— but now they disappear by the end of the week

It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.

Once at [Large company, ~20 years ago], new managers came in and demanded every bit of a huge app be “more purple”, setting design back several months. To this day, I dunno if they *really* thought it needed purple or were just juicing money from the other business unit funding us. Project died.
