Actually, sorry Frank, but this guy seems a lot more enthusiastic

As a summer intern at the now defunct Northern Telecom, I was tasked with collecting the serial numbers of every computer in the building. I was buggered if I was going to wander around 5 floors of a huge corporate office so I sent a building wide email asking people to send me their serial number

That was when I realised that big corporations are just weird and I was never going to fit in there. To be honest, neither did the rest of the IT dept who thought all this was hilarious. But, because nobody explained, I still don’t know what a memorandum is. Oh well.

(And I had to go round the whole building and crawl under desks to get those serial numbers. Got into trouble for *that* too as I walked into someone’s office while their secretary was off getting a coffee and got screamed at when they returned)

This was an internal email system and it came with various message templates with clip art. I found a jolly looking one that had a picture of a pen writing on paper and the title “Memorandum”… About 10 minutes later my boss’s boss storms into my cubicle demanding to know wtf I was doing

A tale of nerdy revenge for Sunday morning

I wrote the first BBS program for the C-64 that ran on a single floppy. Basic with Blitz! compiler, and sections re-written in 6502 assembler. I sold it for $10. There was a guy who ran a BBS, who was obviously pirating it. He was an asshole on top of it...

Oh no! They’ve scored but the scoreboard wont update and now we have to wait whilst someone finds the 1 button. Crowd are *somewhat* taking the piss as two nerds have been summoned to take a look.

It’s quite sweet that the promo video for a housing development near me in Islington shows someone walking down Church Street Market off Edgware Road. Having clearly got it mixed up with Chapel Market at the Angel

You have to laugh at the sheer insanity of Turning Point UK being found to be organising literal contract killings and paid agitation at protests up and down the country and it barely even raises a flicker across the press. If that isn't 'terrorism' on some level I don't really know what is

Times I’ve selected a few characters in a word and dragged them to a new place in a file: 0. Ok, maybe once. Times I’ve accidentally selected a few characters in a word and then dragged them all over the place whilst trying to select more stuff: twelvety billion.

Reread this one after many years - still love it. There’s gorgeous writing, a slow-reveal alien mystery, the corrosive effect of lies, & a heartbreaking depiction of mental illness and one woman’s unraveling. A propulsive build to a fantastic ending. “Planetfall” by Emma Newman. #BookSky 💙📚🪐

Thinking how alike “I’ll be there for you” by The Rembrandts and “Slow Dog” by Belly sound, but with wildly different themes. I mean, apart from that banned episode where they shoot the dog.

Went to get a sandwich for lunch and the place has a phone a lights set up over their prep area and they broadcast my sandwich to the internet before I could hold it, let alone eat it. Some sarnie pervs have got off on my lunch. Where’s my cut?
