@tynanpurdy.com told me that "imgur on ATProto" would be really simple to build.
So, here's my "hello world" of ATProto projects: a free image upload service called @pixl.pics. Try it out at pixl.pics.
It's simple: view all of your images, and upload more.
My first open source release: Tiny Tells!
Six small status characters in one <tiny-tell> tag.
They're animated like little cartoon characters, so a state change is a reaction, not an icon swap or a spinner.
MIT licensed, 14 KB, no dependencies. tinytells.dev
The new documentary “You Can See Everything” places Nathan Fielder in an unsettling game of cat and mouse with Elizabeth Holmes—and unpacks whether she’s a master manipulator or just unable to distinguish fiction from fact, @davidlsims.bsky.social writes: theatln.tc/9PCZ8ubX
Hi protocol friends!
I've been cooking up a Very Large PDS (vlpds) implementation capable of scaling up to billions of accounts and down to just one.
It uses Object Storage as its only state, supports HA operation, live scaling up and down, is feature-complete with the reference PDS, and is FOSS.
Continuing my love affair with @astro.build, I built `at-astro`. It's an integration for Astro that manages the entire OAuth setup for ATProto AppViews and makes it easy to get an authenticated client.
I just migrated @pixl.pics over to it!

My first conference is a wrap, what an amazing experience. The talent density of this community is amazing, and thanks to @tigerbeetle.com for bringing together these living legends to present!
I am really enjoying @tangled.org's CI setup. Nix pkgs, simple dependencies setup, and SSH progress is all very well done.
I'm using Wrangler to deploy to @cloudflare.social, hoping that eventually there is a way to do OIDC with Tangled instead of long-lived tokens.
SURPRISE EVENT. Boston is back for round 2 in July with a full on hosted Meetup. Talks, pizza, DJ, mingling. The whole deal. RSVP and let us know if you'd like to present!
Staying in the game
I'm four months into my interim CEO role at Bluesky, and it's time for an update. Most importantly, as of today, the interim part of the title is gone. I'm...

I installed #iOS27. Running really solid right now, although it has pushed my storage to the brink. For a 128GB iPhone, the fact that iOS is currently occupying 66GB is criminal...

I believe I ran the first Bluesky-first congressional campaign in the country. Some folks thought I was nuts. But it was absolutely the best move.
Bluesky has better fundraising metrics and engagement for candidates, and the site isn’t overrun with Nazis. Take note.

I've worked in Democratic digital comms for a long time and pay attention to campaign metrics across platforms.
Increasingly I'm seeing Dems who crosspost on X, Bluesky, and Threads get better engagement on Bluesky even with far fewer followers.
Here's @jamestalarico.bsky.social's clip last night:
OpenAI's claim that this is a central conjecture in discrete geometry is not an exaggeration. This will I think be looked back on as the first time that AI solved a major mathematics problem (defined as a problem that all experts in some subfield had thought about).

unpopular take with both crowds
so far we’ve only ever seen thinking ability *together* with consciousness (first person experience), which is why we’re instinctively coupling them
imo thinking doesn’t require that. i’d say llms “think” and “generate ideas” — but have no first person experience
Now, my personal blog includes posts from @offprint.app, @pckt.blog, and @leaflet.pub! And you can have that too, if you use Astro, `at-astro-loader`, and the standard site renderer.
A new character approaches!

@lou.gg as I was building this, the difference between build and live collections became pretty clear. Why is `renderMarkdown` only for build time? And is there any better hybrid live collection that determines content freshness? Or should I stick with rebuilding on every change…
@aka.dad two questions:
1. thoughts on canonical URL? Ideally my personal site is the "source of truth", although, it's published using Offprint.
2. `blob` is a defined field for the `app.offprint.block.image` lexicon, but I see `image` as the published field.
3. Not seeing captions published.
