if u think of the democratic party as an organization dedicated to proving they shouldn't be ashamed of putting dukakis in a tank by refusing to allow anyone to prove third way and james carville wrong, you can understand a lot about why the org is doing so badly for something that should be easy

Do challenge coins count as coins or medals in this instance Asking for a friend (who is haunting the challenge coins)

Avery Edison@averyedison.com

We DO NOT ACCEPT Haunted Coins! This Means: • NO Currently Haunted Coins • NO Previously Haunted Coins. Sorry—Can’t Risk It • NO Haunted Coins That ‘Your Guy’ Says Are ‘Barely Haunted’. If Your Guy Loves Them So Much, He Can Buy Them • OK To Possessed Coins, That’s Different

a cool thing about indie animation is that it's expected to save the entire industry, every show has to look better than the things the fans grew up on or it's a waste of time, there's no union to be found anywhere, no budget for any of it, and asking the audience to pay anything to watch is illegal

Telling people you're so rich you don't consider $30k life-changing money is traditionally considered a wildly irresponsible invitation to get robbed.

Matt Darling@besttrousers.bsky.social

I don't think $30k is a life-changing amount of money. Median American born in 1980 will have $2m in income in their lifetime. It's a 1% increase in earnings.

Well over a decade ago I worked for a doggy day care. This would have been about midway through what would ultimately (but for this blip) be a four-year unemployed stint. Like this was the first genuinely, meaningfully good thing to happen to me in a couple years.

The boss had absolutely no interest whatever in investing in a fresh employee who couldn't command the dogs' respect immediately; particularly not when the job was, for said employee, only the first step out of a particularly deep, dark pit.

Unfortunately that only applies to the part where I got hired. The facility was actually really poorly designed; it also offered grooming services and to get to the playroom you had to go through the grooming area. If any dogs escaped from the playroom: mayhem.

The guy training me had worked there for years and it became apparent very quickly that what the owner actually wanted was another one of my trainer: someone who the dogs had already known for years and respected their authority.

"JK Rowling is already a billionaire and everyone already knows about Harry Potter, what's the point of boycotting?" Nobody thinks boycotting will bankrupt her. We know she's gonna die rich. We're just asking you to show a shred of solidarity with trans folk. Absolute low bar bare minimum shit.

to quote a much meaner woman, "the children must have what we could not, and everyone who stands in their way must burn."

jenny tightpants@jtp.bsky.social

this shit does not work on me. go try it on the centrists who call trans women "biological men."

Pretending the days after Sept. 11, 2001 were some kind of gauzy Hallmark special when we came together as a country is nauseating and ahistorical. The country went completely insane and has not recovered

Boo!-per Lund@cooperlund.online

Some friends are teaching their baby ASL as an early bridge to speech and they made the mistake of teaching her “want” as a concept. Now she wanders around the house signing “want” all the time as an expression of unfocused desire. They fucked up and made the baby invent the opposite of Buddhism.

I love my job but I always feel torn about how little energy I have to draw, REALLY draw from the unfiltered heart, outside of work. Repost of some favs.
